RE: fractions [accessing Character Map]
If one wants to have a look at the character map of any font or compare available characters in different fonts (say before deciding on which font to use, etc.), the character map can be accessed from Start Menu --> All Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Character Map. And as we can see in the attached screenshot its easily possible (after checking advanced view and selecting Number Forms category) to check for the available fractions in various fonts. regards, Ashish -Original Message- From: Sean Pollock [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, February 27, 2008 6:46 AM To: Frame Users Subject: RE: fractions Some fractions are part of standard unicode, available from the standard Windows Character Map--e.g., ¼, ½, ¾.Sean Pollock ___ You are currently subscribed to Framers as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send list messages to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] or visit http://lists.frameusers.com/mailman/options/framers/archive%40mail-archive.com Send administrative questions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Visit http://www.frameusers.com/ for more resources and info.
Re: fractions
Hi Joel, You can try one of the fractions fonts available from Adobe. OpenType and PostScript versions are both available. http://store1.adobe.com/cfusion/store/html/index.cfm?store=OLS-US&event=displayFontPackage&code=234 These fonts allow you to type the numerator and denominator independently. Re: fractions
Thanks. I ended up using superscript/subscript to achieve the fraction. - JW On Tue, Feb 26, 2008 at 8:15 PM, Sean Pollock <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Some fractions are part of standard unicode, available from the standard > Windows Character Map--e.g., ¼, ½, ¾.Sean Pollock > > > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: framers@lists.FrameUsers.com> > Subject: Re: fractions> Date: Tue, 26 Feb 2008 15:11:08 -0600> > > Is there > a way to generate fractions> > without just writing them like I am here ( > i.e. 1/4)?> > One method is to buy any of the various fraction fonts > available. RE: fractions
Some fractions are part of standard unicode, available from the standard Windows Character Map--e.g., ¼, ½, ¾.Sean Pollock > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: framers@lists.FrameUsers.com> Subject: Re: > fractions> Date: Tue, 26 Feb 2008 15:11:08 -0600> > > Is there a way to > generate fractions> > without just writing them like I am here (i.e. 1/4)?> > > One method is to buy any of the various fraction fonts available. Re: fractions
> Is there a way to generate fractions > without just writing them like I am here (i.e. 1/4)? One method is to buy any of the various fraction fonts available. Go to myfonts.com or other font seller and search for "fractions." Yes, you still have to enter them by typing the individual characters, but they will be properly sized and kerned. You'll have to apply a character format to them that uses the appropriate fraction font, or they may display as other characters, based on the paragraph format. Some of the "Pro" fonts include Unicode font numerators, denominators, and fraction slash. You can copy and paste them from Character Map, since you have FM8. Again, you'll have to apply a character format to them, unless the font is the same one used for the whole paragraph.
