RE: out of memory error

2010-11-30 Thread Karen Mann
Sorry for the delay getting back to you, got sidelined by a big job.

Just read this again. - Usually one or two books each book having 1 to 40
pages (not big). The graphics vary but all are referenced to an Art drive on
our server. Some are line art and sometimes some are Photoshop, none of which
are heavy duty.
No other software running. New Dell w/Quad processor, 6 g Ram, 500 g drive -
Mem usage 2.26 g - paged 265, nonpaged 101

I presume you saved your changes before closing? I don't know what you're
referring to regarding the panel not working.

You should keep this discussion on the list where there are people who use FM 9
on Win 7 (I don't). And providing more information would help them help you --
for starters, how many FM files are open when the problems occur, how big they
are, whether they contain embedded graphics or OLE objects, and from Task
Manager, how much memory FM is using and how much physical memory is available.

RE: out of memory error

2010-11-08 Thread Syed Zaeem Hosain (syed.hos...@aeris.net)
Hi, Karen.

I am running FrameMaker 9 on Windows 7 64-bit. It is a 64-bit, 8GB memory
Lenovo laptop with a dual-core Intel 3.0G Core Duo processor.

Not entirely identical to your system, but similar enough. I can say that I do
not have any problems of running out of memory on my system - even with
relatively heavy FrameMaker use for hours. And, there are other programs
running too.

Hope you can figure out what it is. There are some Windows tools that may help
track things down.

Subject: out of memory error

Good morning everyone,
My issue:
I recently purchased 3 production machines. New 64 bit, quad core with 6 G
memory.
We use FrameMaker almost exclusively. I was working in FrameMaker 9 for about
3 hours. During that time the I had opened and closed Outlook 2010 so the only
other software running was McAfee Managed Security.
I noticed that when I clicked on a tab in a panel it would not select, and the
edits I was making were not holding. Then, I got an alert that I should close
some windows because there was not enough memory (?). Which happens
periodically.

We had been using single processors with 1.5 G of memory and of course we were
having all kinds of issues. We upgraded so we would not be getting these errors.
Anyone else having an issue with memory...Is there a setting for FM 32 or 64
bit in FM9 in Win7?

Much appreciation, and thanks in advance for your help.

Re: out of memory error

2010-11-08 Thread Art Campbell
Are both the W7 and FM patches up to date?

Just in passing, I've been running FM 9 and W7, both 32 and 64, for
months without any memory errors...
