I've struggled with this same problem, for a table that spans the double
spread, and runs over 10 double pages. I had split the tables into one table
for each page, but this was painful, ie, 20 tables in all.

I have just recently set these up as two FM Tables, one for left page content
and one for right page content. I have set up a master page for the right page
with Flow tag B, the left hand table goes into Flow tag A, and the right hand
table goes into Flow tag B.

I use several duplicate Paragraph Tags for the right side, with the same font
and spacing as the left, so that the empty paragraphs at heading/sub-heading
rows on the right hand pages have the same attributes/row height, but don't end
up in the TOC, eg, Heading1PlaceHolder.

This might not work with how you manage your table content, but having just
worked it through successfully, and not seeing anyone else suggesting it, I
thought it might be worth putting up to the list.
