PDF error

2009-02-28 Thread Donald W. Spencer
Fellow Framers:

I would search the archives, but the frameusers website is still not up and
running in a user friendly condition, so I must bring my problem directly to
you folks

Previous to migrating to a new computer, I was able to generate beautiful
PDF files with the save as command. I'm running 7.2 and distiller seems to
be in place and running, but it hits upon an error and quits without
generating anything. I'm working in a book which is no more than a couple of
hundred pages with a TOC and a smattering of a glossary. The error log I get
is as follows:

%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[Page: 1]%%
%%[ Error: undefinedresource; OffendingCommand: findresource ]%%

Stack:
/CIDFont
/KozMinStd-Bold
{--pop-- 4 --index-- --add--}
/KozMinStd-Bold-hf
/WinCharSet-H
/KozMinStd-BoldH

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

I assume that the undefined resource is the issue. Is there something
missing from Distiller?
A programmer, I am not. So I have no way of comprehending what might be
amiss.
Any hints?

Index Formatting in Framemaker 7.0

2009-02-28 Thread Scott Atkins

I am using Framemaker 7.0 and have created a big index with many sub-entries,
but I do not like the standard style the program uses to put the index
together. Instead of having sub-entries appear on a line below the main entry I
would like the sub-entries to appear on the same line, separated from the main
entry by a colon and from subsequent sub-entries by a semi-colon. Can you help
me do so?

Example: Instead of:

File

Open, 24

Save, 25

I prefer:

File: open, 24; save, 25

Printing to a .pdf

2009-02-28 Thread Greg. Eckrich
Good afternoon.

Seems like such a dumb question but I'll be darned if I can finger it
out.

I desire to produce a .pdf file of a large book. The file has been
produced before and has actually been sumitted to a commercial
printer in the pdf format.
Using FrameMaker 7.1 on Windows XP running as a guest OS on a MacBook
Pro running OS 10.4.
This version of Frame needs to see a post script printer on the
system. While there is no physical PS printer installed, a driver is
present for a GCC BLP Elite v52.3. This arrangement has worked in
the past.

Walked through printer setup in Frame; frame sees the printer.
Actually sent a file to this printer and the file queued up.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Printing to a .pdf

2009-02-28 Thread Art Campbell
There should be a logical printer on the system named Adobe PDF or
something similar. But just select that as your printer and print to
it. It should prompt you for a destination file and that's that. You
do not need to print to a PS file and then distill, so make sure that,
in the FM print dialog box, Print to File is NOT checked.
