[Frameworks] Doctor T, Dave Bryant, Tim Mungenast and his Merry Men 02.11.12 Outpost 186
Hi folks, Visual Music LIVE continues at Outpost 186 on Saturday at 8 PM. -- I'll be doing video improvisations with Dave Bryant -- Solo Keyboard and Tim Mungenast and his Merry Men Tim Mungenast -- Guitar and FX Michael Bloom (ex Cul de Sac) -- Bass and other strings, Jon Proudman (also ex Cul de Sac) -- drums with Special guest -- Dave Bryant (ex Ornette Coleman), Keyboards My projections are produced by mixing multiple DVD sources with a video mixer and effects processor. The sources consist of computer-manipulated original material derived from my still photography and videography. [Frameworks] [FWD: The Lawrence Brose case, an update]
FRAMEWORKERS: FYI. Original Message Subject: The Lawrence Brose case, an update From: defensef...@lawrencebrose.com Date: Mon, February 06, 2012 12:17 pm To: k...@aol.com, lawrencebr...@gmail.com Dear Friends and Supporters of Lawrence Brose, Thank you for your continued support. This case against Lawrence is far from over, but the Defense Fund Team wants to inform you of some current events. Another important testimonial has been added in support of Lawrence from distinguished artist and composer Pauline Oliveros, which is enclosed below. There has been some reporting in the Buffalo News about a recent discussion between attorneys and the Judge, which does contain inaccuracies, but there are some glimmers of the truth which are beginning to surface. "Attorney in Brose child porn case says blame rests with someone else" http://www.buffalonews.com/city/communities/buffalo/article715476.ece The Buffalo News did print a Letter to the Editor from Bob Hirsch, an ardent supporter from the beginning. "Brose is innocent until proven guilty" http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial-page/from-our-readers/letters-to-the-editor/article719934.ece Doug Ireland's forceful article from Gay City News was picked up and published in Art Voice in Buffalo recently. This piece remains the most important reporting to date. We hope that everyone will share it with their own network. We cannot stress enough how important it is to continue to spread the word and work toward raising funds to pay for this lengthy legal defense. "The Martyrdom of Lawrence Brose" http://www.chelseanow.com/articles/2011/11/23/gay_city_news/news/doc4ecd876a7139d408835502.txt New artwork has been accepted into the Defense Fund Art Sale from important artists whose work is generously donated to help pay for the mounting legal fees. Please take some time to visit the Art Sale catalog on http://lawrencebroselegaldefensefund.com/ Work is continuing to obtain the names of notable artists who will sign on to a proposal for foundation support. Jonathan David Katz continues to work on proposals to press the case for Lawrence's support. Everyone should view an important film by Lynn Hershman Leeson about Buffalo artist Steve Kurtz' case that was brought against him by the same prosecutorial team that is charging Lawrence with these false charges. The similarities in these cases are a chilling reminder of what the government is up to with fraudulent charges against artists. Lawrence's current legal team successfully defended Kurtz and the false charges against him were eventually dropped, but after years of defense and fund raising. It is encouraging to see Lawrence's attorneys in action in that case and that justice can prevail. http://www.strangeculture.net/ It stars notable actors Thomas Jay Ryan and Tilda Swinton. It is also available from Netflix. Please remember than donations to Lawrence's defense can be made through the National Center for Reason and Justice. http://ncrj.org/lawrence-brose/ NCRJ works for child-protective laws based on science, fairness, and good sense, and supports people who are falsely accused or convicted of crimes against children. Here is Pauline Olivero's moving testimonial: To All That It May Concern: In the matter of Lawrence Brose, I write with a heavy heart and strong support for dismissal of the charges wrongfully brought against him. Brose is a fine artist. I support his work and his rights as an artist. His work is timely and very important in the liberation of gay artists, gay persons and for the education of the public. Brose is a good citizen and has served the public well in his profession as practicing media artist and well known gallery executive director in Buffalo NY. This nightmare false charge against Brose has deprived him of his job and life savings and deprived the public and fellow artists of his distinguished, inspiring and helpful work as an artist and administrator. The false charge also will cost Brose even more money that he does not have but also cost the public for the extended trial that will ensue. As a fellow artist I strongly support Lawrence Brose. Sincerely, Pauline Oliveros Professor of Practice Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute To all who are receiving this email, please let us know if you do not want to receive these updates. For everyone else, please share this with your friends and colleagues. We also invite supporters to send us their comments and suggestions for spreading the word and seeking support. We are confident that justice will prevail for Lawrence Brose with your help. Sincerest regards, The Defense Fund Team defensef...@lawrencebrose.com ___ FrameWorks mailing list FrameWorks@jonasmekasfilms.com https://mailman-mail5.webfaction.com/listinfo/frameworks

Chris Weber in Burbank is pretty much the go-to person in L.A. for 16mm (she does 35mm too of course). Her info can be found here: http://www.manta.com/c/mm8l1bc/chris-weber-post-production She did a great job cutting a negative for Chick Strand's final film, and has cut negs for Morgan Fisher, Betzy Bromberg, and any number of other L.A. filmmakers. While I have always felt you should cut your own negative, since you are on the east coast, Noelle Penraat is very good. She still does projects, but now works at home since there is a lot less negative cutting being done. She's in NYC, probably in the phone book.
