[Frameworks] Lipsett, Night tide and Lonesome
Dear frameworkers, Does anybody know who distributes the films of Arthur Lipsett? And who distributes Night Tide (1961) by Curtis Harrington and Lonesome (1928) by Paul Fejos (1928)? I would speak to the National Film Board about Lipsett. Roger D. Wilson613 324 - 7504rogerdwilson@sympatico.cahttp://www.rogerdwilson.ca Without failure you can never achieve success. I have based my process and my career as an experimental film artist on this statement; and I welcome it as it pushes me forward as an artist to try something different, something new. I've rented a few of the Lipsett films from Murray Glass (the Em Gee Film Library) before. Rental rates there are cheap, but it's a bit of a hassle to figure out exactly what he has. ... R. Chen, If you're talking 35mm, NIGHT TIDE is at the Academy and LONESOME is at the George Eastman House. On DVD/BluRay it's Kino (I believe) and Criterion respectively. As the industrial interests that historically sustained film production abandon us, we self organize and defy irrelevancy- keeping film where it belongs, in the underground. I rented Very Nice, Very Nice and 21-87 from Em Gee and was actually shocked by how good the prints looked. I doubt they're going out much, so I'd expect they'd still look great. Re: [Frameworks] Lipsett, Night tide and Lonesome
Julian (or anyone), Do know anything more about the fate of Em Gee? I knew Murray (Glass=M.G.=Em Gee) had been trying to sell his collection for years, but I didn't think it would ever happen. Would love to know what happened to the experimental films that he had. It's true that I saw some prints from his collection that were in bad shape, but there were a bunch of gems too, those Lipsett films among them. ?
