I would speak to the National Film Board about Lipsett.

Without failure you can never achieve success. I have based my process and my
career as an experimental film artist on this statement; and I welcome it as it
pushes me forward as an artist to try something different, something new.

2013-08-24 Thread Beebe, Roger
I've rented a few of the Lipsett films from Murray Glass (the Em Gee Film
Library) before. Rental rates there are cheap, but it's a bit of a hassle to
figure out exactly what he has.

Chen,

If you're talking 35mm, NIGHT TIDE is at the Academy and LONESOME is at the
George Eastman House. On DVD/BluRay it's Kino (I believe) and Criterion
respectively.

for the promotion of analogue film craft. It has become a monthly
meet-up/hang-out/nerd-out connecting those with something to learn and
those with something to teach. Operating non-hierarchically and without
agenda, Elements of Image Making is a vagrant Lyceum transferring the
alchemical secrets of the past via word of mouth to anyone seeking
initiation into celluloid film-istry. As the industrial interests that
historically sustained film production abandon us, we self organize and
defy irrelevancy- keeping film where it belongs, in the underground. To

I rented Very Nice, Very Nice and 21-87 from Em Gee and was actually shocked by
how good the prints looked. I doubt they're going out much, so I'd expect
they'd still look great. (I rented them maybe 4 years ago.)

2013-08-24 Thread Beebe, Roger
Julian (or anyone),

Do know anything more about the fate of Em Gee? I knew Murray (Glass=M.G.=Em
Gee) had been trying to sell his collection for years, but I didn't think it
would ever happen. Would love to know what happened to the experimental films
that he had. It's true that I saw some prints from his collection that were in
bad shape, but there were a bunch of gems too, those Lipsett films among them.
