[Frameworks] Liz Rodda

2013-09-16 Thread Gene Youngblood
Does anyone know the whereabouts of Liz Rodda. She’s listed on the faculty
website for the film program at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, but there’s
no response from her office extension or email.___

Re: [Frameworks] Self Developing Mess

2013-09-16 Thread Scott Dorsey
Everything looked fine after the bleach, rinse and then exposure.
When I did the second development, it appeared to be sliding off.

Odd. There's nothing unusual about the redeveloper if you are doing
light exposure, in fact, the redeveloper is just another ordinary film
developer, a little more active and maybe a little more alkaline than the
first developer but nothing in any way apt to soften the emulsion.

I am apt to worry about your bleach what if you develop a few inches of
film in room lighting and feel it each step along the way.

[Frameworks] Super 8 BW Processing in the US

2013-09-16 Thread Pablo Marin
Hi all,

I'm sure this question has been posted here more than a thousand times, but
since the labs situation is not in its best historical moment I'm sure it won't
be too bad to update it once more:

I'm looking for a (great) lab that process Super 8 bw in the US (preferably
near the Chicago area). Any suggestions?

Best and thanks,
Pablo.___

[Frameworks] This week in Boston - two Balagan shows

2013-09-16 Thread Stefan Grabowski

Tuesday: Consuming Spirits / Sunday: Echo-Systems

Dear friends -- We hope you will join us for this
week's Balagan Film Series screenings! New details below...

Consuming Spirits (2012) by Chris Sullivan

Tuesday, September 17, 7:30pm, Brattle Theatre

Director in person!

This achingly sad, occasionally grotesque story of family secrets, sexual
longings and small-town malaise, told through drawings, paper cutouts and
miniature models, has more in common with intimate graphic novels like David
Small’s Stitches or Alison Bechdel’s Fun Home than with any live-action indie
melodrama I can think of. The wintry, northern, class-divided setting might
resonate with readers of Joyce Carol Oates. But the blend of narrative
quasi-realism and wild, somber visual invention in Consuming Spirits is
entirely original. — A. O. Scott, NY Times

Echo-Systems: outdoor music + film

Sunday, September 22, 7:30pm

Norman B. Leventhal Park (map)

Bring a cozy sweater to this outdoor event featuring double-projection
experimentation and musical improvisation! New participants announced: JP-based
filmmaker Robert Todd and Fort Point-based filmmaker Douglas Urbank will
present their most recent single- and multi-channel 16mm works in collaboration
with local experimental musicians, Ernst Karel and Jorrit Dijkstra.

Rain date: Sunday, September 29th.

Hi Pablo,

CineLab (MA) is not all that near Chicago, but they affordably and reliably
process 7266 in super 8. Midwest has almost no large volume labs left.
