[Frameworks] color print stock

2014-01-20 Thread Katherine Bauer
Hi Frameworkers
What 16mm film stock would you recommend for making an internegative from a
positive?
The positive is black and white mostly, and high contrast black and white
but because of solarization and chemical effects some parts have changed to
a yellow color that I would like to preserve when making the internet.

Re: [Frameworks] color print stock

2014-01-20 Thread Mark Toscano
Kodak technically makes only one 16mm color interneg stock to duplicate
non-orange-base positives - 3273. It's more or less the same as 50D camera
negative, and I've actually found it to be quite good at reproducing b/w and
other monochromes mixed with color material.  May depend on the lab, but there
are at least a couple I'd recommend who should do a really great job.

Alternatively, you could print your original through an orange base filter to
3242 color intermediate, which would give you probably a bunch more saturation
and contrast, but it would probably be too much and you'd lose some detail for
sure.  But technically it's an option.  I'd go with the 3273 though.

[Frameworks] projector lubracant oil suggestions

2014-01-20 Thread Huckleberry Lain
Hello,
Like many out there I have some wonderful old portable film projectors and
I'm noticing that a couple of them need some projector oil. This will, in
fact, be my first time replenishing it (I really don't use the projectors
too often anymore).

Looking on the internet I was having a difficult time finding the right oil
type. Of course, I can easily find oil for a Century or Simplex, but I'm
not sure if that will work correctly for my classic Bell Howells.

Suggestions?
Best,
Huck
