Re: [Frameworks] under-represented world experimental film by women

2016-01-21 Thread Gina
Check out this website on Hong Kong women filmmakers. Several work in
experimental film/video.

See, in particular, Ellen Pau, Yau Ching, and Anson Mak.

Good luck.

[Frameworks] ACRE Residency (free application through Sunday)

2016-01-21 Thread Jesse Malmed
Hi all,

Just a note of encouragement to apply to my beloved ACRE Residency
 for the summer of 2016.

ACRE’s residency this year will be its seventh, and already we've hosted
over 450 artists at the idyllic ACRE property in rural southwestern
Wisconsin. Having attended the residency myself—and now thickly amongst its
all-volunteer staff—I would recommend it highly to emerging artists
interested in expanding their practice and network of peers. Applications
are due March 6th this year‚
but are free through Sunday, and I encourage all y'all to apply. Financial
aid options including work-study positions and scholarships
 are
available.

The residency is for artists of all stripes, but a number of moving
image-oriented people have spent time there as visiting artists, residents
and staff (last year's panoply included Deborah Stratman, Astria Suparak, Brett
Kashmere, Alee Peoples, Mike Stoltz, Eric Fleischauer, Tony Balko, Jules
Rosskam, Danielle Campbell, Jelly Marmalade and on and on).

Applications and more
information can be found at www.acreresidency.org

Thanks!

[Frameworks] flatmate / sublet in brooklyn (starting feb)

2016-01-21 Thread ev petrol
Hey folks
happy 2016!

I'm looking for someone to share the loft for feb and sublet from march on
(with the possibility of sharing again when I come back, date tbc)

the loft is pretty big, there's a lot of space; it's in Dumbo (just underneath
the Manhattan bridge) & a block and a half from the F train York st stop

extra plus for 16mm film-makers: working steenbeck (+ projectors, splicers,
reels &c)

the elevator is not working at the moment (a new one is currently being
installed) & i'm on the 6th floor - can't say i miss it much myself, but then i
rarely used it while it was working, so i'm used to the stairs

it's definitely an old-school loft situation (no frills but all the basics) -
if you're interested get back to me for more details

cheers Moira

About five years ago Andres Denegri and Gabriella Golder in Buenos Aires
published "Lucida: Experimental Video in Latin America,” a 4 disc box set set
with booklet. I think Gabriella was the curator but I’d have to hunt for her
email. Here’s Andres: andresdene...@yahoo.com
Tell him I sent you.

2016-01-21 Thread Katya Yakubov
Hello folks,

Any recommendations for contemporary experimental film/video shorts by
*women* filmmakers specifically from regions under the radar:

Middle East, South America, Africa, East Asia + Asia, and Eastern Europe.

And possibly also a link to purchase educational copies of their DVDs?

Thank you!

Re: [Frameworks] where to buy Bolex H16 RX-4 or 5?

Hello Nicky
Keep checking eBay , there are loads of them - you should be able to pick up a
Rex 5 body for around $450-500
