[Frameworks] Call for Experimental Features/Curated Programs!

2016-02-03 Thread UNEXPOSED Microcinema
Dear Frameworks,

UNEXPOSED Microcinema is putting out a call for feature length experimental
films in any sub-genre. We are also looking for curated programs of
experimental shorts (individuals and festival programmers are encouraged to
submit). Desired runtime for either of these will run between 45min and
2hr. Your feature film or curated program will take place in our venue
situated in downtown Durham, North Carolina in the Golden Belt Arts
District.

Our microcinema is dedicated to exhibiting experimental cinema in its
fullest capacity. All donations and entry costs go directly back to
operating the space itself. We are unable to extend screening fees to
artists but please see it as a donation to the space :) We are operating
with no grants from any institution, be that city or university, and hope
you understand that our passion is to show people this art form as much as
humanly possible.

Please email us (off the listserv) video links and passwords to this
address if you're interested, or if you have any questions:

All the best,

While it has been too too many years since I have seen the early work of Andrew
Noren,
I’m certain that the film formally known as Kodak Ghost Poems, and some of his
later films
would definitely meet your criteria. Certainly the part about light, and much
of Noren’s light came in through glass windows.

No problem John! Hi Herb! Yeah, I don't think it's "wrong" to show it at
24fps. Asking her personally if possible is the best way to get a
definitive answer, though as is her nature as an artist this may change.
(It's therefore understandable that there are vague or conflicting
indications.) Anyway for this major Salzburg retro for which Carolee and
Anthology/EAI revisited a few of her films, Anthology arranged to scan the
recent preservation negative and EAI conformed separate exhibition
derivatives to *both* 18 and 24 fps, and 18 is what went in the show and
what we will be distributing on video. But that shouldn't necessarily
"settle" the issue.

Re: [Frameworks] Films about glass and light

2016-02-03 Thread Jonathan Walley
John Smith, Leading Light
Nicky Hamlyn (who just posted in response to this thread) made a group of films
as part of a residency for Media City in 2012 that would fit this bill, and
which are great (see https://www.agw.ca/show_document/2501/2
)
Emily Richardson, Nocturne
Work by Sandra Gibson and Luis Recoder, and Bruce McClure, would be ideal,
though it’s all performance work so the artists need to be in attendance.
Gibson and Recoder, in particular, work with all kinds of glass objects in
their projection performances.

Lis Rhodes, Light Music
Michael Snow, Breakfast (Table Top Dolly)
Robert Morris, Mirror
(lots of films with/about/utilizing mirrors to choose from)

Ran across this a few months ago, which could be interesting (especially Cinema
Before 1300!):
