[Frameworks] Eiki 16mm claw repair

2018-03-09 Thread Philippe Leonard
Hello!

I am looking for recommendations to repair a defective claw on a 16mm Eiki
projector. I am touring on the East coast doing visuals for GY!BE so I am
moving quickly between different cities. We'll be in NYC on the 11-12-13.
So ideally I would drop the projector on the 11 and get it back at the
latest on the 12 at 2PM before the first of two shows in BK. We'll also
play at Mass MoCA tomorrow night but I don't have high hopes of finding a
tech in North Adams...

Any leads would be greatly appreciated!

best,

Philippe

Re: [Frameworks] 'the body/artist anatomies' in experimental film

2018-03-09 Thread Janis Crystal Lipzin
I suggest these experimental films featuring the body/artist anatomies:
Erogeny by James Broughton
my film Other Reckless Things in collaboration with Ellen Zweig

Erogeny was James' response to Maas' Geography of the Body.
Other Reckless Things is a frank look at childbirth and a response to a news
account of a self-inflicted Caesarean section.

[Frameworks] 6-plate 16mm Steenbeck for sale.

2018-03-09 Thread Jesse Andrewartha

Hi All,

So I’m also selling my 16mm Steenbeck. This one is going because I’m
consolidating my interest in 35mm (so always interested in any leads on a 35mm
Steenbeck or KEM). Anyway, selling my 6-plate Steenbeck. Fully operational, all
fuses ok, all operations ok but does need a new bulb. I can replace it for you
if you decide to get the machine.

$500 CAD, local pickup in Vancouver only.

Thanks!

You can likely get CD3 from Photographer's Formulary, or from Artcraft Chemical.
Both specialize in small quantity packaging of photographic specialty reagents.

Last I looked, Kodak wanted to sell CD3 only in a big cardboard drum four feet

Whats long? ASL for industrial cinema ranges from 3 - 6 seconds, so a shot
of even 10 seconds would be double the average. The shot length possible
on a clockwork Bolex of about 20 seconds is common throughout the field you
are researching so are they normal or long? Does experimental cinema
materialogically deal with longer takes, so is there 'long' for exp'
cinema and long for 'narrative' cinema? The two being different. Does a
still frame copied thousands of times on a printer constitute a 'take'?
Does animation count as 'take based', ie Rhythmus 21 is a continuous flow
that is unified in the end as a take?

Sorry for all the questions.

John Woodman's landscape films on super 8 use long shots, well 3'20'' at 18 fps.
https://lux.org.uk/writing/new-dvd-landscape-films-1977-1982-john-woodman

What about I Do Not Know What It Is I Am Like and Hatsu-Yume by Bill Viola?

Béla Tarr usually filmed long takes for works like Sátántangó, for example.

Andy Warhol is the first artist that comes to mind concerning long takes,
though.

Concerning still images there are several filmmakers in Japan around the late
seventies and eighties that could be useful:
Spacey by Takashi Ito, Engram by Matsumoto Toshio.
