Re: [Frameworks] what 16mm stocks are you shooting & where are you getting them?

I used to find buying directly from Kodak was the cheapest way. Specta Lab in
LA sell b.w and color neg with processing, might want to check that out.

[Frameworks] Open reel audio tape give away [SF Bay Area}

2020-07-02 Thread Dave Tetzlaff
Hey, does anyone here still have a use for open reel audio tape?

If not some form of actual analog art recording, maybe some kind of sculptural
thing, or a hipster method for tying up git packages… or something…

I’m clearing out some storage and I’ve got 28 7” reels. 17 un-opened boxes of
Scotch 250 (1200 ft.) and 11 boxes of lightly-used Maxell UD 35-90 [1800 ft.].
The storage area wasn’t climate controlled :-( but all the tapes were in
plastic bags inside the paper boxes, so I’m guessing they’re OK. (I no longer
have a working reel-to-reel deck, so I can’t check their actual condition.)

Anyway, rather than just chuck them out, I thought I should offer them them
here - FOR FREE, of course as long as you’re in the SF Bay Area and can come
get them in Daly City (contact free, naturally). I’d also be willing to ship
them elsewhere for for cost, but that might be more than they’re worth, unless
you have a special need… [mass-producing tape-bow violins? thumb-on-capstan
phase-shifting on 20 decks simultaneously in real time???]

If you know anyone not-on-this-list who might want the tape do let them know…

Contact me off list. Thanks.

PS:

Oh yeah, if anyone in the Bay Area has a working reel-to-reel deck I could
borrow the use of, I have a few of my own old tapes I’d like to dub to digital
[which I can’t afford to pay a professional service to do…] A few hours worth
at most. Again, contact me off list…

[Frameworks] what 16mm stocks are you shooting & where are you getting them?

2020-07-02 Thread Eric Theise
Hi everyone,

Writing from San Francisco where, once upon a time, one could walk into
Action Camera (RIP ~2013) or Adolph Gasser's (RIP 2017) and walk out with a
100 ft spool of camera stock. In recent years I've been digging old stocks
out of my fridge to shoot but I'm wondering what're the most economical
options for acquiring fresh film these days?

Film Photography Project (https://filmphotographyproject.com/) certainly
ranks high in Google searches.

& what 16mm stocks are you enthusiastic about these days?

Thanks, Eric

[Frameworks] Antimatter Festival 2020 — Final Deadline July 11

2020-07-02 Thread Todd Eacrett

Fellow Frameworkers,

The final (extended) submission deadline for the 2020 Antimatter [Media Art]
festival is coming up on July 11.

We are planning for a real-life, non-virtual event to include physical
screenings, installations and performances as we have for two decades. With
restrictions on international travel we may add some online components as well.

The situation here is currently quite good, with much reopening already
including our own gallery (Deluge Contemporary Art) where we have a media
installation running and are welcoming visitors eager to see art beyond their
personal screens.

Submissions are accepted through FilmFreeway or directly, with entry guidelines
and form available on our website.
