[Frameworks] 11/5 screening at Oberlin

2018-11-04 Thread James Hansen
I forgot to add a program I put together to the weekly list that just went
around. I wanted to send it along in case anyone on the list is in northern
Ohio tomorrow... 16mm screening of rarely screened 80s/90s work by [women]
filmmakers in Canyons collection. Films by Arledge, Fonoroff, Geiser,
Kirby, Smith, and Strand. Feel free to spread the word to anyone/everyone
in Ohio!

james

Re: [Frameworks] Seeking examples of film elegies

2018-08-28 Thread James Hansen
Hi Sarah,

Any of Phil Solomon's work from the In Memoriam (Mark LaPore) series would
be nice. *Untitled (for David Gatten), **Rehearsals for Retirement, *and *Still
Raining, Still Dreaming *are all quite meditative in different ways. *Last
Days in a Lonely Place* incorporates varied sources and is very wonderful.

Anne Charlotte Robertson's *My Cat, My Garden, and 9/11*

Seconded Mary Helena Clark's *The Dragon is the Frame*.

Frampton's *Gloria!* also comes to mind.

with sympathy,
james
