2019-10-22 Thread Elena Duque
Some things that came to my mind:

Furniture Poetry, by Paul Bush (he has other several films that involve
live action and animation, but this one is online):
https://vimeo.com/36341747

Jane Aaron's Traveling Light and Set in Motion (rather pixilation, but I
think it is a valid example):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMmHtgO7lfU

Al Jarnow's Architecture:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0TxbY2Bo20

Jonathan Hodgson's Feeling my Way:
https://vimeo.com/32255983

El sueño de Adán, by Mercedes Gaspar (also rather pixilation, but well):
https://www.hamacaonline.net/titles/el-sueno-de-adan/

Pruebas definitivas, by Cristina Busto:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1dbFmE-gz8

I don't know if this is what you were looking for, but I hope this is
useful!

Best wishes,

Chris,
This subject cannot be exhausted! Many short films by Walerian Borowczyk
(France/Poland), almost all films by Hieronim Neumann (Poland), just to mention
a few filmmakers whom you might not known (check Bendazzi’s books). I am not
mentioning Norman McLaren and “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” and hundreds of better
known examples. Almost all early animated cartoons opened with a live action
sequence, usually a hand drawing a character. You can check one of my films

Hi Chris,

Svankmajer’s films, both shorts and features, commonly intermix live action and
animation, to the extent that you frequently can’t tell where one ends and the
other starts, foregrounding the idea that animation (especially stop-motion) is
another form of editing.
Also, Passo, by Ale Abreu, is one of my current favorites. You can see it here:

Hello again Chris,

Sorry I think I missunderstood the concept "live action" as "live cinema".

Maybe Jeff Scher and Jeff Keen, for example, can be considered filmmakers
who mix animation with acting trough rotoscopy or other techniques.
