The following is simply added info for anyone possibly interested in the Steenbeck that Katherine is trying to move...
If it's "from the 80s", then it is likely a model ending in 01. 2 plate - model 1201 4 plate - 1601 6 plate - 1901 8 plate (two picture) - 921 Is it just 16mm or 16/35? The 01 models with skirt legs can be broken down into four main parts. Disconnect wires and remove the picture head. Remove all electrical connections tying the legs to the rest of the machine, then unbolt the legs. Presto - four pieces, some of them very heavy, but certainly able to move in a station wagon. Of course, leaving the legs on makes it easier to roll on to a truck, but if this is not an option, taking the legs off can help move it. Furniture dollies required. Model 01 Steenbeks produce bi-phase tach and can trigger synch (as Pip mentioned here in a recent post) to Pro Tools or Soundtrack or other software that allows one to sync to Bi-phase, LTC or MTC. Steenbecks can be converted to cover super16. Paul Tomasko can do this or sell you a kit. Steenbecks can have squared spindles for mounting film reels, which is convenient for inspecting/viewing prints. KEM had round spindles, at least all the ones I've seen, and I cannot recall with the Moviola flatbeds have. --Alain On Fri, Aug 17, 2012 at 12:29 PM, katherine Bauer <kittylitter...@gmail.com>wrote: > Hi All again, > So basically -- do not shy away if you are not in NYC...it still may be > the best match!
