[Bug 225996] tftpd(8): tftpd doesn't abort on a WRQ access violation
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=225996 Bug ID: 225996 Summary: tftpd(8): tftpd doesn't abort on a WRQ access violation Product: Base System Version: CURRENT Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Some People Priority: --- Component: bin Assignee: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: asom...@freebsd.org On a WRQ (write request) tftpd checks whether the client has access permission for the file in question. If not, then the write is prevented. However, tftpd doesn't reply with an ERROR packet, nor does it abort. Instead, it tries to receive the packet anyway. The bug is in tftp_wrq() at line 543. There is no error handling for ecode != 0. The symptom is slightly different depending on the nature of the error. If the target file is nonexistent and tftpd lacks permission to create it, then tftpd will willingly receive the file, but not write it anywhere. If the file exists but is not writable, then tftpd will fail to ACK to WRQ. tftp> put small.txt nonexistent Try 1, didn't receive answer from remote. Sent 7 bytes during 5.1 seconds in 1 blocks tftp> put small.txt small.txt Timeout #1 on ACK 1 Timeout #3 on ACK 1 Timeout #5 send ACK 1 giving up -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ freebsd-bugs@freebsd.org mailing list https://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-bugs To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-bugs-unsubscr...@freebsd.org"
[Bug 225993] [PATCH] mfiutil: show progress command could be more user-friendly/consistent
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=225993 Bug ID: 225993 Summary: [PATCH] mfiutil: show progress command could be more user-friendly/consistent Product: Base System Version: 11.1-RELEASE Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Keywords: patch Severity: Affects Some People Priority: --- Component: bin Assignee: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: yaneurab...@gmail.com Keywords: patch Created attachment 190740 --> https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=190740=edit Improved "show progress" patch I had to recently build a mfi volume member after a drive died, and I had to noticed that the output from "mfiutil show progress" was inconsistent on my 11.1-RELEASE machine. The attached patch improves the time output to match the second (completion) time format, resulting in a more consistent, user-friendly experience. Sidenotes: the attached patch sorts the #includes as well because it didn't conform to style(9). Example output after the patch: $ sudo mfiutil show progress drive 4 Rebuild: 83.34% complete after 13:11:13. Completion ETA: 2:38:12 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ freebsd-bugs@freebsd.org mailing list https://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-bugs To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-bugs-unsubscr...@freebsd.org"
[Bug 218849] Remove rc.conf jail configuration via jail_* variables
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=218849 jtkoert...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||jtkoert...@gmail.com --- Comment #31 from jtkoert...@gmail.com --- (In reply to Thomas Steen Rasmussen / Tykling from comment #25) I must admit it looks like exactly this. If you take a look at the first versions of qjail, you can see, that the 'Author' Joe Barbish just stole the main code from ezjail and even forgot to remove all occurances of the pattern 'ezjail' in the code he redistributed under his own name (https://sourceforge.net/projects/qjail/files/qjail-1.0.tar.bz2/download) - of course you can find tons of other portions of the original ezjail code (https://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-jail/2013-March/002120.html), but that is just funny: [xxx qjail-1.0.tar]# grep -R 'ezjail' * qjail.conf.sample:# This is the default location where ezjail archives its jails to Stealing code and than making such an effort to ruin the original authors work? Shame on you, script kiddie! As the most relevant people already stated here: There is no reason to remove that bits, that will in return doing harm to ezjail users, without removing any risks or problems from the base. period. So the responsible FreeBSD people should close this 'bug' as there is no evident reason for this, except the personal intention of Joe Barbish. People like him shouldn't get to much attention and at least no support from a community of real coders. I'm doing this job since the late eighties and might be a little blue, but claiming others code/work as your own is nothing an opensource community should accept or tolerate. Keeping this as an open 'bug' implies that. Not a good sign. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ freebsd-bugs@freebsd.org mailing list https://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-bugs To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-bugs-unsubscr...@freebsd.org"
