A nice git view of NetBSD ipsec history is here:
https://github.com/NetBSD/src/commits/trunk/sys/netipsec

There is probably a lot of good stuff for us to pull from there (possibly
security-related), not just this. But we can track that separately.

I wonder if this patch will be issued as erratum for 11.1-RELEASE. I've just
spent a full day trying to understand what is wrong with my syslog.d
configuration on a 11.1-RELEASE-p10 system until I found this entry. This bug
is so fundamental that even after I discovered on my own that the problem is
related to file naming, I still could not believe it was not an obscure fault
of mine.

Of course, now I can work around this bug, but I find it exceedingly strange
that at the current patch level 10 it is *still* not corrected as an erratum.

[Bug 228654] ACPI suspend with bounce kills USB

2018-05-31 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=228654

Bug ID: 228654
Summary: ACPI suspend with bounce kills USB
   Product: Base System
   Version: CURRENT
  Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
  Severity: Affects Only Me
  Priority: ---
 Component: kern
  Assignee: b...@freebsd.org

Version:

> 07:47:47 PDT 2018
> unkn...@nohost.com:/usr/obj/usr/src/amd64.amd64/sys/GENERIC amd64

Commands (from https://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/acpi-overview.html):
> # sysctl debug.bootverbose=1
> # sysctl debug.acpi.suspend_bounce=1
> # acpiconf -s 3
cause USB to be deactivated with these messages:
> May 31 14:09:12 xxx acpi[1801]: resumed at 20180531 14:09:12
> May 31 14:09:12 xxx kernel: uhub2: 4 ports with 4 removable, self powered

Symptoms:
USB mouse doesn't come back from the simulated suspend. Unplugging/replugging
the mouse doesn't bring it back either. Only reboot helps.

USB is identified as:

[Bug 228574] GNU ld doesn't emit _end when linking with lld-linked libc.so

2018-05-31 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=228574

The solution proposed by the binutils developers is to emit _end, etc., only in
executables. To integrate that change, we'd have to remove _end from libc.so's
version map. However, this change would require lld to adopt the same
behaviour, since otherwise libc.so will use the internal definition of _end
when linked with lld, which will always be wrong. lld also needs to be tweaked
to emit _end if libc.so contains an undefined _end symbol. Currently it will
not emit _end in an executable if libc.so has an undefined reference to _end.

This is a continuation of Bug #185623.

I can confirm the behavior still exists on the latest 11.1-RELEASE installer as
of 2018/01/25 on an Asus h87m-e motherboard.

[Bug 228621] Certificate validation error in ntpd leap file / ietf.org chain

2018-05-31 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=228621

I believe this is a result of no CA root store being installed by default.
Which I'm sure was a hotly debated topic and has been decided upon for noble
reasons.

However, that decision causes ntpd, which *is* installed by default, to not
grab the leap file because ietf.org is https.

The easy fix is to change the script to:
fetch --no-verify-peer https://www.ietf.org/timezones/data/leap-seconds.list

Not the most elegant, but the only option if root certs will not be available
for a default package.

This is caused by a bug in the Spectre/Meltdown patches (FreeBSD
11.1-RELEASE-p8). There is a fix
(https://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/svn-src-all/2018-May/163829.html) but it
hasn't been merged to the release yet.

We should be getting an Errata Notice to fix this in the release soon.

The problem is like caused by base r334118.
I think that it should be fixed now as there have been several follow-up
commits. But the fix is likely after r334167 that you tried.

[Bug 228556] igb link status is not updating properly when configured as VF driver in guest OS

2018-05-31 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=228556

Additional Info:

If we make link down from host via command > 'ip link set down ethX' , guest
will get reset indication and link status will update as 'DOWN' .
But if actual physical link is down then it will not update properly

For eg:

1) When physical link is up , VF will show as link 'UP'
root@/# ip link show eth2
6: eth2: mtu 1500 qdisc mq state UP mode
DEFAULT qlen 1000
link/ether 00:a0:c9:00:00:01 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
vf 0 MAC 02:01:01:00:00:05, spoof checking on
root@/#

2) When physical link is down , in this case , vf link status will be link 'UP'
as per current source code.

root@/# ip link show eth2
6: eth2: mtu 1500 qdisc mq state DOWN mode
DEFAULT qlen 1000
link/ether 00:a0:c9:00:00:01 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
vf 0 MAC 02:01:01:00:00:05, spoof checking on
root@/#

3) make link down using software , in this case VF will get reset indication
and link status will be updated as 'DOWN'

root@/# ip link set down eth2
root@/# ip link show eth2
6: eth2: mtu 1500 qdisc mq state DOWN mode DEFAULT qlen
1000
link/ether 00:a0:c9:00:00:01 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
vf 0 MAC 02:01:01:00:00:05, spoof checking on
root@/#

[Bug 228628] Kernel panic after resume

2018-05-31 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=228628

Bug ID: 228628
   Summary: Kernel panic after resume
   Product: Base System
   Version: CURRENT
  Hardware: amd64
OS: Any
Status: New
  Severity: Affects Only Me
  Priority: ---
 Component: kern
  Assignee: b...@freebsd.org
  Reporter: free...@justmail.de

Since upgrading CURRENT from r333740 to r334167 I'm experiencing reproducibly
Kernel panics. Before the update i did not have any of those.

Steps to reproduce:
In my case i have to repeat these steps several times (2-7x), then the panic
(backtrace below) occurs.

1. suspend
2. resume
3. start firefox

Hardware:
Lenovo Thinkpad T450 Laptop

Software:
FreeBSD CURRENT with Kernel-Config GENERIC-NODEBUG,
drm-stable-kmod from ports

Additional:
I've built and installed kernels until the error appears:
The last working revision is r334117, the first not
working is r334123. Revisions 334118-334122 of the kernel did not build,
so i cannot try these.
