[Bug 233554] ifconfig - Add feature to list interfaces summary.

2018-11-26 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=233554

Bug ID: 233554
   Summary: ifconfig - Add feature to list interfaces summary.
   Product: Base System
   Version: CURRENT
  Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
  Severity: Affects Some People
  Priority: ---
 Component: bin
  Assignee: b...@freebsd.org
  Reporter: s...@codenetworks.net
CC: allanj...@freebsd.org

Created attachment 199594
  --> https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=199594=edit
File contains output of ifconfig -s on a system used multiple interfaces.

Hi FreeBSD team,

What:

This is an enhancement request. Just wondering what is your view on adding a
new flag/feature to ifconfig to provide a summary of the network interfaces
including admin state, media status, description and maybe something else in a
table based format ( Yes like a cisco "show interface status" or any of
those..).

If I'm not wrong at the moment there is not such feature and when working with
many interfaces (like 10's of jails using Vimage) it becomes quite difficult to
track interface and bridges status.

Status:

I been playing around with ifconfig and put together a status_summary()
function that generates the following, but is too poor in code quality and
features. So just wondering if somebody is interested on coding it or maybe
point me in the right direction to code it.

I've included a file with the current output of the -s (summary) function I
added. It can be used with the existing flags ( -d -u $ifname).

Regards.

Santiago Martinez

--- Comment #3 from Jilles Tjoelker  ---
I notice a bug in libedit. The function map_bind() in lib/libedit/map.c assumes
that the argv array ends with a NULL string pointer, but the documentation for
el_parse() does not say this is required and the implementation of
ct_decode_argv() does not make it such. As a result, memory out of bounds of
the allocation is accessed.

Since applications calling el_wparse() cannot be assumed to add the NULL
sentinel, functions like map_bind() should be adjusted (there may be more
places making this incorrect assumption).

By the way, I don't think the approach of converting strings into wchar_t
strings (that is, UTF-32, most of the time) should be repeated in new code.

Good catch. It somewhat surprises me that this has been broken for so long.

The environment() part of the patch looks good, but the exportcmd() part is
redundant since setvar() already sets VUNSET if the value to be set is NULL
(something like sh -uc 'export thisshouldnotbehere; echo
"$thisshouldnotbehere"' detects the unset variable as it should). Also, a test
should be added, preferably using env(1) or ${SH} itself only and not
printenv(1) since it's not in POSIX.

[Bug 233413] lld does not accept -format arg used by lazarus build system

It looks like "elf32-i386-freebsd" is also baked into the binary bootstrap
compiler.

I see that this port is setting LLD_UNSAFE=yes, so shouldn't be invoking lld
anyway; there's more to investigate here. During experimentation I tried the
patch above with LLD_UNSAFE removed, and that prompts a warning from GNU ld
(binutils port) that -format elf is unknown.

I did find that lld has more extensive format support in its linker script

  stand/i386/libi386: rename .s file to .S to use Clang IAS

  As part of the migration away from obsolete binutils we want to retire
  GNU as. Most assembly files used on amd64 have a .S extension and are
  assembled with Clang's Integrated Assembler (IAS); rename pxetram.s to
  .S to use IAS as well.

[Bug 232206] [truss] update strsize parameter handling

2018-11-26 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=232206

--- Comment #4 from David Carlier  ---
The bug is mainly all about fixing a possible overflow when using string size
parameter, basically by giving a value over an integer maximum value.

Easily reproducible by "trussing" the syslog process with this sort of value (I
just print out the value on purpose):
truss -s 27836487264287642746284662746874678412834 ...
makes the process aborting

/usr/obj/usr/src/amd64.amd64/usr.bin/truss/truss -s
23894723984789237473278482974382479238794728379843828794 -p 1509
STRSIZE -1
select(10,{ 3 5 8 9 },0x0,0x0,0x0)   = 1 (0x1)
Bus error (core dumped)

whereas with a more "reasonable" value it works as always

/usr/obj/usr/src/amd64.amd64/usr.bin/truss/truss -s 80 -p 1553
STRSIZE 80
select(10,{ 3 5 8 9 },0x0,0x0,0x0)   = 1 (0x1)

[Bug 233543] bsdtar: enable xz threads support

2018-11-26 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=233543

Bug ID: 233543
   Summary: bsdtar: enable xz threads support
   Product: Base System
   Version: 12.0-STABLE
  Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
  Severity: Affects Only Me
  Priority: ---
 Component: bin
  Assignee: b...@freebsd.org
  Reporter: shoes...@gmx.net

Created attachment 199578
  --> https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=199578=edit
patch enabling xz threads support

Currently, bsdtar is built without XZ multi-threading support.

Can be tested with this command:
tar -Jcf /dev/null --options xz:threads=4 $HOME

After setting HAVE_LZMA_STREAM_ENCODER_MT, it works as expected, see attached
patch.

If this feature is enabled, the xz:threads option should also be mentioned in
the man page.

Either add a reference to -T option in xz(1) or duplicate the info from there:
> Specify the number of worker threads to use. Setting threads to
> a special value 0 makes xz use as many threads as there are CPU
> cores on the system.

[Bug 233535] Machines lost ping6 after adding same IPv6 address

2018-11-26 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=233535

Bug ID: 233535
   Summary: Machines lost ping6 after adding same IPv6 address
   Product: Base System
   Version: CURRENT
  Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
  Severity: Affects Some People
  Priority: ---
 Component: kern
  Assignee: b...@freebsd.org
  Reporter: slav...@freebsd.org

Setup:
2 hosts connected back-to-back
# uname -rv
13.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 13.0-CURRENT r340922 GENERIC-NODEBUG

Steps to reproduce:
1. Configure IPv6 address on both hosts:
HOST A: ifconfig igb0 inet6 2002::1
HOST B: ifconfig igb0 inet6 2002::2

2. Ping to make sure all works:
# ping6 2002::2
PING6(56=40+8+8 bytes) 2002::1 --> 2002::2
16 bytes from 2002::2, icmp_seq=0 hlim=64 time=0.101 ms
16 bytes from 2002::2, icmp_seq=1 hlim=64 time=0.085 ms
^C
--- 2002::2 ping6 statistics ---
2 packets transmitted, 2 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/std-dev = 0.085/0.093/0.101/0.008 ms

3. On both hosts configure the same IP
HOST A: ifconfig igb0 inet6 2002::1
HOST B: ifconfig igb0 inet6 2002::2

4. Check ping again
# ping6 2002::2
PING6(56=40+8+8 bytes) 2002::1 --> 2002::2
^C
--- 2002::2 ping6 statistics ---
7 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100.0% packet loss

Few notes:
==
1. Seems like sometimes need to do step 3 multiple times.
2. Pinging from the other side, may resolve the issue.
3. Issue is reproducing on other NIC vendors.

>From tcpdump, I see that the other side is getting the NS messages, but never

--- Comment #276 from SF  ---
Do you use ipfw? It's caused by ipfw, after removing some lines within ipfw it
doesn't crash anymore. There is some specific commands you shouldn't use.

e.x.:
don't use "ipfw table" commands

I'm using KDE all the time; and when the crash happens the screen garbles a
little bit, and after a while my system reboots - please give me some more time
to build a DDB-enabled kernel and switch to the VT console
