   Product: Documentation

  Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New

patch

Current documentation implies that -F works as a standalone flag, when in
reality it needs to be bundled with -a.

Simple patch attached to clarify that -F is for use with -a.

This issue is similar to: Bug 238291, but Acer Aspire V3-371 has no trackpoint.

Touchpad is not working (at all; cursor is not moving) in Acer Aspire V3-371. I
tried various solutions corresponding to synaptics and elantech, but with no
effect.
I can use USB mouse, but no touchpad.

I have tried patch from https://reviews.freebsd.org/D20507 - no effect,
touchpad is dead.
I also can't see psm0 device.

When using the same disk on second laptop (Lenovo Y570) I don't observe any
issue with touchpad. The same goes for other OSes on Acer Aspire V3-371 (so
touchpad is not at fault).

[Bug 233853] 12.0-RC3 ntpd leap second file expired

2019-06-13 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=233853

I recently reinstalled my system from the 12.0-RELEASE image. Indeed the
provided ntpd.lead-seconds.list is expired. However, you can easily update it
using "service ntpd onefetch". Also, this is typically performed automatically
once a day by /etc/periodic/daily/480.leapfile-ntpd, so I think it's mostly a
cosmetic issue.

[Bug 238455] 12.0-STABLE r348775 GENERIC amd64 hangs with hw.dmar.enable=1

https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=238455

r346352 was done exactly to fix G7 issues. It might be G8, but still should be
very close.

To make any progress with this, re-check with HEAD. If the results are
similar, provide acpidump -dt output.

[Bug 234538] freebsd-update hangs on upgrade from 11.2p7 to 12.0 on Google Compute Engine

2019-06-13 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=234538

I discovered a workaround which may be of interest: the issue observed with
freebsd-update is apparently related to behavior of the
py27-google-compute-engine package installed by default on the FreeBSD GCE
images. If one uninstalls the package prior to upgrading, all proceeds
normally.

I have a theory that the issue may proceed from py-google-compute-engine's
tendency to overwrite certain files in /etc every few seconds whenever it is
running. While I'm lacking an understanding of the internals of freebsd-update,
it seems plausible that this could somehow give rise to the hangs I observed.

Hi Piotr,

Thanks for your report.
Can you please share some more details?
What FW version do you have on the HCA?
# sysctl dev.mlx5_core.0.hw.fw_version
Do you have any errors in logs?
Did you try to set the if up?
# ifconfig mce0 up

[Bug 238540] mlxen(4): no link for MT27710 Family [ConnectX-4 Lx]

2019-06-13 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=238540

Bug ID: 238540
Summary: mlxen(4): no link for MT27710 Family [ConnectX-4 Lx]
   Product: Base System
   Version: 12.0-RELEASE
  Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
  Severity: Affects Only Me
  Priority: ---
 Component: kern
  Assignee: b...@freebsd.org
  Reporter: pku...@freebsd.org

I have a Huawei 2288H V5 server running FreeBSD 12.0-RELEASE.

This server has MT27710 Family [ConnectX-4 Lx] network cards and in dmesg I can
see that FreeBSD can see they're plugged in:
mlx5_core0: INFO: Module 0, status: plugged and enabled
mlx5_core1: INFO: Module 1, status: plugged and enabled

The problem is that there's no link (status is no carrier):
mce0: flags=8802 metric 0 mtu 1500

options=2ed07bb
ether d0:ef:c1:71:9f:9d
media: Ethernet autoselect
status: no carrier
nd6 options=29
mce1: flags=8802 metric 0 mtu 1500

options=2ed07bb
ether d0:ef:c1:71:9f:9e
media: Ethernet autoselect
status: no carrier
nd6 options=29

The same NIC's in the same network work when Ubuntu Linux (18.04) is used (no
configuration changes required).

Status on Ubuntu:
Settings for eno6:
Supported ports: [ Backplane ]
Supported link modes: 1000baseKX/Full
1baseKR/Full
25000baseCR/Full
25000baseKR/Full
25000baseSR/Full
Supported pause frame use: Symmetric
Supports auto-negotiation: Yes
Supported FEC modes: Not reported
Advertised link modes: 1000baseKX/Full
1baseKR/Full
25000baseCR/Full
25000baseKR/Full
25000baseSR/Full
Advertised pause frame use: Symmetric
Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes
Advertised FEC modes: Not reported
Speed: 1Mb/s
Duplex: Full
Port: Direct Attach Copper
PHYAD: 0
Transceiver: internal
Auto-negotiation: on
Cannot get wake-on-lan settings: Operation not permitted
Current message level: 0x0004 (4)
   link
Link detected: yes

This fits reality, the NIC is connected to 10G port in switch.

I have also tried setting media manually to each of:
media 1000baseT mediaopt full-duplex,rxpause,txpause
media 10GBase-ER mediaopt full-duplex,rxpause,txpause
media 10Gbase-SR mediaopt full-duplex,rxpause,txpause
media 10GBase-CR1 mediaopt full-duplex,rxpause,txpause
media 10GBase-KR mediaopt full-duplex,rxpause,txpause
media 1000Base-KX mediaopt full-duplex,rxpause,txpause
media 1000Base-CX-SGMII mediaopt full-duplex,rxpause,txpause

But it also didn't work.
