(In reply to John Millikin from comment #2)
Ok, I agree. As the man page says, l_whence should be set to SEEK_SET on
return from a successful F_GETLK operation. After all, it's describing some
other lock, not the one you queried about. However, I don't see any reason why
l_whence should be set to SEEK_SET on return from F_SETLK or F_SETLKW.

(There's a separate problem with SEEK_END and F_SETLK, which I'll fix. fusefs
doesn't correct the offset passed to the daemon.)

[Bug 267134] loader.help is no longer installed

2022-10-16 Thread bugzilla-noreply
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=267134

Bug ID: 267134
Summary: loader.help is no longer installed
   Product: Base System
   Version: 13.1-RELEASE
  Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
  Severity: Affects Only Me
  Priority: ---
 Component: misc
  Assignee: b...@freebsd.org
  Reporter: dar...@dons.net.au

The loader will read loader.help to produce detailed help, however it is built
but not installed so it no longer works.

I assume it was accidentally broken earlier but I don't have a good idea when
it stopped working.

I had a look to find out where the loader is installed but go lost in a twisty
maze of Makefiles, all alike.

This seems to be connected to/similar to bug #256368:
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=256368

And I have the same problem here; the above bug happened to me a few months
back, causing causing me to remove the ZIL from my bootable zpool. A few
months later, I had completely forgotten about this, and readded the ZIL, then
rebooted.

Good times ensued.

Booting from memstick and removing the ZIL devices again allowed the system to
boot. System has been updated to 13.1p2.
