Hi Everyone, Unfortunately due to a daylight saving time-related mixup we would like to reschedule this Office Hours in the coming weeks and will update in the mailing list. We apologies for keeping your schedule busy. Looking forward to see you in the coming weeks. I'm interested in the answers but the questions aren't specific and I'm not going to attend to the meeting. So I expect that there are better questions to fill that place. These questions have being in my head for a long time, even. - Where are the results of the (past) surveys? - Can the surveys be audited? - How safe they are? I mean: if someone wants to change the data, the security measures to the data integrity? - "Community" is very vague therm. Can we have details about the users that answered them like a general description about the typical FreeBSD user and the user that answered them? - How the biases of the surveys were managed? - How the surveys data were processed to arrive at the results? - the papers about these surveys? Sorry if this all looks late or repetitive. -- rollingbits — rollingb...@icloud.com rollingb...@gmail.com rollingb...@yahoo.com rollingb...@terra.com.br rollingb...@globo.com ___ freebsd-current@freebsd.org mailing list https://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-current To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-current-unsubscr...@freebsd.org"
CORE Team Office Hours
Hi, Following on from the effort in 2019, The FreeBSD team is arranging another Community Survey to help shape the future of The FreeBSD Project. The purpose of this survey is to collect quantitative data from the public in order to help guide the project’s priorities and efforts. Similar surveys have been conducted twice by the FreeBSD Project and we are preparing for our third. Before publishing the next survey the Core Team welcomes you to attend for a Virtual Town Hall meeting to share some of the insights of the 2020 Community Survey, and seek advice on how the next survey should be conducted. The virtual Town Hall will take place on the 17th of March 2021, at 18:00 hours GMT/UTC. See https://wiki.freebsd.org/OfficeHours for details on how to join either a live stream to watch, or an interactive meeting to participate. If time permits the Core Team may be able to answer questions related to the survey process.. If you have any specific questions that you would like answered during the session you can send an email to core@ ahead of the meeting which the Core Team will try to address. Thanks! We look forward to meeting you. Regards, Moin (bofh), with core-secretary@ hat on signature.asc Description: Message signed with OpenPGP
Core Team Office Hours 4
Based on the continuity of our last CORE Office Hours The FreeBSD CORE Team would like to invite you all to a virtual town hall meeting. As mentioned earlier this session is timed at 0200 UTC on 14th October, 2020 geared towards the other part of the World but everyone is welcome to join. See https://wiki.freebsd.org/OfficeHours for details on how to join either a live stream to watch, or an interactive meeting to participate. A link to this agenda (and any updates) will be there as well. We’ll be discussing the following topics and taking general questions at the end. We’ll have a moderator who will help call on people in the meeting to ask questions (or to offer comments) as well as relay relevant questions from IRC. a. Git Transition -- To raise awareness, Ed Maste and Warner Losh will be giving a brief presentation about the state of the project’s planned transition to git. They can answer a few questions here, but are also planning an entire office hours on the git transition (tentatively scheduled in two weeks). b. Recruiting for project teams -- When a new core team takes over, it’s a good time to assess the needs of each of the teams that we have running different aspects of the project, such as administering our machines and helping keep FreeBSD secure. One common theme is the need for more help. We’ll discuss what teams there are, and make a recruiting pitch and answer any questions. c. Core TODO List publishing -- To continue the openness initiative, the core team will start publishing out TODO list. This will be in addition to the normal meeting minutes and other openness ideas. The new core team would love to hear from the community how to improve our communications. d. General Questions -- Time permitting, the core team can answer any other questions or concerns the community might have. Thanks! We look forward to meeting you. Re: Core Team Office Hours
The 23rd. Sorry for the confusion - there were some scheduling conflicts that caused this to be pushed back. Cheers. -sc On Wed, Sep 16, 2020 at 1:05 AM Jakob Alvermark wrote: > On 2020-09-15 16:12, FreeBSD Core Team Secretary wrote: > > Based on the continuity of our last CORE Office Hours The FreeBSD CORE > Team would like to invite you all to a virtual town hall meeting. Core Team Office Hours
FreeBSD recently held an election for its governing body called the ‘Core Team’. The newly elected Core Team would like to invite you to a virtual town hall meeting. We’ll be holding two sessions, one timed well for Europe and the Americas; the other timed well for Asia, Africa and India. Sessions will be held at 1800 UTC on July 7, 2020 and 0200 UTC on July 8, 2020. • Introduce core members -- All the core team members in attendance will briefly introduce themselves and say a few words about their goals for this core term. • Discuss proposed terminology changes -- Recently, the prior core team had sent out a proposal about how to handle shifts in language based on societal change. The initial message was poorly written and didn’t strike the right tone. We’ll discuss it, the underlying issue and how the new core team plans on doing things better. • Recruiting for project teams -- When a new core team takes over, it’s a good time to assess the needs of each of the teams that we have running different aspects of the project, such as administering our machines and helping keep FreeBSD secure.
