hw.ata.atapi_dma problem

2003-11-04 Thread Harald Schmalzbauer
Salve,

with today's -current (~21:30 UTC) I get hw.ata.atapi_dma listed again. But
it's said to be 1 so dma should be enabled I think.
dmesg says:
Timecounters tick every 1.000 msec
GEOM: create disk ad0 dp=0xc2d97570
ad0: 39083MB Maxtor 4D040H2 [79408/16/63] at ata0-master UDMA100
acd0: CDROM SONY CDU4811 at ata1-master PIO4
pcm0: measured ac97 link rate at 55928 Hz

So dma is NOT enabled although the sysctl is 1

atacontrol mode 1 also tells PIO4
After atacontrol mode 1 udma33 udma33 I get udma33 returned.

So whats's the truth? I think my cd-rom should be able to work in dma mode.
Mode tells me no dma is used and sysctl the opposite.
Of course I have the sysctl enabled in loader.conf!

Thanks,

-Harry

For ATAPI devices you need hw.ata.atapi_dma=1.

For ATAPI devices you need hw.ata.atapi_dma=1.

That's exactly what one line shows in my loader.conf
And sysctl hw.ata.atapi_dma returns 1.
But atacontrol mode 1 tells me PIO4
And also dmesg tells me PIO4!
That's the problem!
