 I believe that the new eventhandler.h is depending on newer compiler
 tools. This makes it somewhat difficult to bootstrap. Can you make it so it
 *doesn't* require gcc3 installed?

And this has also affected iconv.h.

I would suggest very strongly that this must be backed out.
