I can't compile graphics/py-cairo

2013-01-11 Thread Xavier

Hi to all,

I use 9.1-RELEASE and up to date the ports tree:

# portsnap fetch update
Looking up portsnap.FreeBSD.org mirrors... 6 mirrors found.
Fetching snapshot tag from ec2-eu-west-1.portsnap.FreeBSD.org... done.
Ports tree hasn't changed since last snapshot.
No updates needed.
Ports tree is already up to date.
root at casa:/root # date
Thu Jan 10 11:25:43 CET 2013

And graphics/py-cairo don't compile:

http://pastebin.com/1ccxe2jt

http://pastebin.com/4r5JGR3H

Any ideas ?

Thanks.

its results were inaccurate (did not find installed ports...). It
would serve many well if someone were to rewrite if for the present
ports structure IMHO.  (That was for just one of its usages that I
used a lot, the others I was still using portupgrade or a
custom .sh script, for those fifty percent or so of the time in
which I did not simply permit portmanager to complete the task.)

portupgrade -na does that also. That and portupgrade's -R function
(rebuild everything that the named port depends on, and then the
named port) are the only thing I miss in portmaster.

I loved portmanager. It fixed problems that portupgrade missed or
botched and that portmaster simply chocked on. It was in my opinion a
real shame when Michael Shultz gave up development of the application
and no one else had the expertise to continue on with its development.
I had actually done a little BETA work on his early releases and was
informed of where he wanted to take the project. Written in 'C', it
didn't require any other libraries or languages to be installed. A
real light weight yet heavy duty management tool.

p5-ack renamed ack, no entry in UPDATING

2013-01-11 Thread Vick Khera
The ports/UPDATING file has no mention of textproc/p5-ack being renamed to
textproc/ack. There should be some note about this, as well as suggestion
to use portupgrade/portmaster/pkg to replace the installed version. I did
this:

portmaster -o textproc/ack p5-ack-1.96_1

Somehow I ended up with both ports installed after a recent run of
portupgrade -a.

port*manager* is gone, portmaster and portupgrade are still available.

I'm sorry to hear that, it was still working well for me.

Does anyone know what portupgrade is like these days? when I stopped
using it it seemed to be getting a bit flakey.

On the whole I'd rather not use portmaster because the last time I
checked it terminates on the first error rather than when it has no
more it can do. This makes it very inefficient when there are build
errors.

for backward compatibility, because

The ports/UPDATING file has no mention of textproc/p5-ack being renamed to
textproc/ack. There should be some note about this, as well as suggestion
to use portupgrade/portmaster/pkg to replace the installed version. I did
 this:

 portmaster -o textproc/ack p5-ack-1.96_1

Somehow I ended up with both ports installed after a recent run of
 portupgrade -a.

There should be a MOVED entry which portmaster should have
automatically noticed. If not, let us know.

devel/libtool won't build, because it requires autom4te during the
configure phase. So I put BUILD_DEPENDS= autom4te:devel/autoconf
in the Makefile. But autoconf depends on gmake, which depends on
gettext, which depends on libiconv, which depends on libtool.
What to do?

Build devel/gmake defining WITHOUT_NLS:
# cd /usr/ports/devel/gmake make -DWITHOUT_NLS all install

Why would anybody want NLS support in make in a first place?

I'm running on a CURRENT build on my Raspberry Pi.

It turns out the circular dependency is the side effect of the FreeBSD
10 autotools fix. Upon discovering that acinclude.m4 has been modified,
the port decides it needs to run autom4te.

I worked around the problem with make -DWITHOUT_FBSD10_FIX, with no
apparent ill effects. Perhaps the devel/libtool Makefile should always
define WITHOUT_FBSD10_FIX. -- George Mitchell
