That works as well - firefox runs with compat6x installed, but compliled
with the patch to www/firefox .

  Thanks again for debugging this!

Well, the mystery is not entirely solved, as Firefox does not crash with
a similar failure on -current, even with the compat6x libc.so.6
installed, and without the patch to osfile_unix_allthreads.jsm.

So *something* is different in the way multiple versions of libc.so are
handled, when they are loaded into the same process. Kostik, maybe you
 have any idea?

The same library of different version loaded into the process address
space causes all sort of funny effects which are not very useful to
investigate in the details. E.g., non-hidden private symbols both
function and data types which are also present in the earlier library
are resolved to the symbols from earlier library. The split definitely
causes complicated and contradictory behaviour.

In other words, if not loading libc.so.6 makes the process behave, I
consider the case closed.

FreeBSD ports you maintain which are out of date

2013-06-03 Thread portscout
Dear port maintainer,

The portscout new distfile checker has detected that one or more of your
ports appears to be out of date. Please take the opportunity to check
each of the ports listed below, and if possible and appropriate,
submit/commit an update. If any ports have already been updated, you can
safely ignore the entry.

You will not be e-mailed again for any of the port/version combinations
below.

Full details can be found at the following URL:

If any of the above results are invalid, please check the following page
for details on how to improve portscout's detection and selection of
distfiles on a per-port basis:

Re: [kde-freebsd] x11/kde4-workspace: automoc4 SEGVs on certain files

 Hello,

While building x11/kde4-workspace, 'automoc4' crashes again and again on

After identifying that the crash is in 'automoc4', I have rebuild the
 port devel/automoc4 with

 # make reinstall USE_GCC=any WITH_DEBUG=yes

 to avoid regression of 'clang' in 'automoc4', but this did not help;

What can I do (apart of running the 'make...' in x11/kde4-workspace in a
while-true-loop, hoping that it will get through at the end, now 9%)?

After three days and nights of compilation the port x11/kde4 (and it
dependencies) have been installed at the end; with the result that KDE4
crashes on startup (exactly: plasma-desktop crashes); the used build
environment has been in detail:

kernel and user land: 10-CURRENT from SVN r250558 (i386)
compiler: GCC 4.2.1 (clang was unable to compile certain ports)
ports tree from SVN r319094 (May 26)

I would like to know if someone could compile and use KDE4 in a recent
environment (like mine). Is this port somehow under continues
integration build, and if so with which results?

Thanks, frustrated

Thank you for reporting this. Sorry for the trouble.

It was messed up from poor testing and due to github breaking their
distribution URLs, so the tarball was not generated properly. It's fixed
now.

Pseudo-TTY Issues with FBSD 10 Snapshot?

2013-06-03 Thread Janky Jay
So, I'm unsure if this is related to a difference in pseudo TTY's yet or
not, but I'm having a very strange issue that I've never encountered
before. Details as follows:

Fresh install of FBSD 10
FreeBSD fbsd10.purplehat.org 10.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 10.0-CURRENT #0: Mon
May 13 00:54:58 UTC 2013
r...@snap.freebsd.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64)

I've installed XFCE4 and Fluxbox as a play-around/test WM along with
x11/aterm. Everything seems to be working perfectly aside from the fact
that I can no longer use the 'aterm' command. Any time I try to start an
instance of 'aterm', I get the following error:

aterm: ca't open pseudo-tty
aterm: aborting

So, of course, my immediate reaction/thought is that I'm out of
TTY's. However, I'm only one user and there is only 2 TTY's being used
(my initial login and my X session). In the mean time, Xterm and rxvt
work perfectly fine. No errors, no issues. Is there something that has
changed with FBSD 10 regarding the Unix98 PTY support or something?
There are many people that don't seem to have this issue at all using
the same default snapshot. What am I missing here?

As always, thanks in advance. I wouldn't mind switching terminal
emulators. I just find Aterm to have a ton of options for the size and
ease of use. I would certainly be disappointed if it were no longer
available for FBSD 10. :(

Regards,
Janky Jay, III
