PS: similar problem are not present in MIT Kerberos (/usr/ports/security/krb5))

Exactly. That's why I just installed MIT Kerberos and it started working for me.

Building enlightenment-devel fails

2008-05-29 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi All,

I'm running a FreeBSD 6.3-PRERELEASE and after a portupgrade building
enlightenment-devel fails with following error.

--snip--
libtool: link: cannot find the library `/usr/local/lib/libecore_dbus.la'
or unhandled argument `/usr/local/lib/libecore_dbus.la'

gmake[3]: *** [enlightenment] Error 1
--snip--

I googled this problem an found this

--snip--
This removes the DBUS check for ecore. Since ecore does not appear to
link against any other DBUS port, it is not necessary. In addition
enlightenment-devel will not build if ecore does not have DBUS enabled
due to a dependency on Ecore_DBus.h in e.h. A better way is welcome.

--snip--

The attached patch doesn't solve the problem as I dunno know which
Makefile to patch. /usr/ports/x11/ecore/Makefile doesn't exist on my
machine, only /usr/ports/x11/ecore-desktop.

This was not the first problem with the upgrade. As ports/UPDATING said
on 20080312 ecore and evas have been splitted. After uninstalling and
clean reinstalling all e-related packages now problems with
libcore_dbus.la occure.

Please excuse my probably stupid questions here, but I'm relatively new
to FreeBSD and try to fix most of my problems by myself. But in here im
stuck.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Many greetings from Germany,

Christoph

Sure it is a great place to set options...

Try something like this:

.if ${.CURDIR:M*/lang/erlang}
WITHOUT_ODBC=YES
WITHOUT_JAVA=YES
.endif

to set specific options for specific ports.

As for requesting Apache 2, I find it best to first install apache
version you want, then letting the ports find the one that is installed,
rather than expecting them to install the right version. That said,
this is honored by many ports:

WITH_APACHE2=YES

This is advanced level for me :)

But thanks for the tip :)

This did it!

I had USE_APACHE=2.2 in /etc/make.conf,
because I think php was building with Apache
1.3 by default.

Did not think this would confuse perl.

Yes, indeed, it was USE_APACHE=2.2 in
/etc/make.conf as David suggested.

Without knowing at what stage of the portupgrade process you got this

It happened when portupgrade tried to install
the new version (after backing up the old

portupgrade reinstalled the old version.

Well yeah, we are not Gentoo. But we

Do you think it's worth to drop a note to the

lang/perl5.8 fails

2007-11-26 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Don't know what's going on, but since 5.8.8_1
portupgrade lang/perl5.8 fails with -

/usr/local/sbin/apxs: not found
/usr/ports/Mk/bsd.apache.mk, line 287:
warning /usr/local/sbin/apxs -q MPM_NAME
returned non-zero status
=== perl-5.8.8_1 : Your apache does not
support DSO modules.

I have www/apache22 installed.

The strange thing is that
/usr/local/sbin/apxs exists.
/usr/local/sbin/apachectl -l shows mod_so.c.
Also php5 installs and updates without problems.

Any ideas?

Bad line in Makefile for /usr/ports/audio/mbrolavox

2007-09-09 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Dear [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I am using the PORTS supplied with PCBSD 1.4RC on CD2 . I have
updated my PORTS recently.
I do not know where this sytem gets the PORTS from but anyway
..

There is a bug in this Makefile (
/usr/ports/audio/mbrolavox/Makefile ) which will show up if you do

#cd /usr/ports
#make index

or

#cd /usr/ports/audio/mbrolavox
#make maintainer

The output shows

madrid# make index
Generating INDEX-6 - please wait..cut: stdin: Illegal byte sequence
Makefile, line 32: warning: /usr/bin/cut -f 1 -d '|'
/usr/ports/audio/mbrolavox/voices
.conf returned non-zero status

This arises because of a strange character in the name of an Icelandic
person in file voices.conf

Suggest you change the cut line to say instead -

awk -F'|' '{print $1}' voices.conf

( Incidently I wonder if this is actually a bug incut . I would
think it should concern itself only with the
divider character )

There was a discussion about this on this list a few months ago. Go
ahead and find it :-)

Thanks, Vasil. As they say been there, done that Even the other
*bsd lists and forums from 2006. The standard ends up being use a
linux browser in emulation mode (firefox and opera) and the flash 7
plugin from adobe. This whole thing came up because of the increase
of flash 8/9 now. I haven't found a solution in that area, yet,
although I have tried the latest linux flash 9 beta plugin and stuck
it in /usr/local/lib/npapi/linux-flashplugin/libflashplayer.so. It
crashes all versions of firefox and opera doesn't crash but it doesn't
play most advanced sites either. Basically just the ones that flash 7
play.

Over the years, I've experienced the linuxplugin stuff as being very,
very elusive. We tend to spend hours rebuilding, verifying links,
linuxpluginwrapper and 15 days of multimedia heaven, that the sky
tends to fall.

/usr/local/lib/npapi/linux-flashplugin/libflashplayer.so

I forgot to add that I did copy the lobflashplayer.so from the flash 9
plugin to:

/usr/local/lib/npapi/linux-flashplugin/libflashplayer.so

and in linux-opera it worked on some sites and half worked on others.
With linux-firefox, linux-firefox-devel, linux-seamonkey-devel it just
blew away immediately. (crashed) With linux-flashplugin7 it works for
all the above but may sites ask you to upgrade.

This morning I had a couple of emails from people telling me that after
upgrade they can't connect and the port is exiting with signal 11.

How should I proceed with this? as I said I can't duplicate the problem.

I got a number of messages too, since I committed the patch. I was able
to determine the cause of the problem, so I went ahead and fixed it.

I was seeing the same thing so when I saw this I upgraded ports and
just rebuilt with:

I restarted proftpd and am still seeing the same problem. A few lines

Hopefully this is still the old port but if not, is anyone else still
seeing this? I'm using ldap for auth and running FreeBSD

ports/courier Problem imapd.core and upgrade

Great, I tested this and it works. I used it as basis for upgrade patch. If
anybody would like to try 0.53.3 with this patch, look for ports/105573 in
FreeBSD PR database. I would like to get as much feedback as possible.

I downloaded the pr patch and applied it manually and it broke the
complilation with fam but since I'm not sure if this should be fam
based or gamin based with the change. I would also appreciate your
attaching an empty mail/courier port with your changes, if you could,
just to be sure that my manual application was ok although they were
very simple but sometimes that is worse.

On a side note, I would like to know which add-ons are people using with
courier. I have good experience with clamcour (security/clamcour in FreeBSD
ports) and a bit with pythonfilter (mail/courier-pythonfilter in ports).

I am only using spamassassin and clamcour, that I agree works great.
What else is being used? I'm also thinking that maybe this should
probably be on the [EMAIL PROTECTED] rather than courier-users unless
other os's have the gamin/fam conflicts.

I was just looking at my different courier installations and I see
that there isn't a gamin/fam standard. On some I'm still running
/usr/local/bin/fam -T 0 and newer ones, I'm not and they all work
although one is complaining about fam in the log file. I guess that
what I'm suggesting is that a best or recommended method be added to
the courier port. Life was easier before gamin but . . .

Thanks to all,

ed

P.S. This may not show up in ports because I'm not suscribed with this
   email address but maybe ;)

Can you find the corefile and run gdb on it and do bt? E.g.

$ gdb /usr/local/bin/php /path/to/php.core
...
(gdb) bt

This might tell us which module is crashing php.

Jeremy,

Thanks for the suggestion. First I apologize for the noise because I
sent this on the 17th and it just got to the list. In the meantime I
recompiled all with a portupgrade -rRf and that solved the problem and
I erased all the core files. But the problem was probably one of my
prior upgrades didn't compile something that was causing the problem.

Again thanks,

This seems to be an issue with either fam or gamin as currently present in
ports tree. I do not understand everything in detail, one does not
link (just

as you showed), the second one builds but does not run (imapd dumps core, so
no usable imap server). If someone with more fam/gamin knowledge could help
here, it would be great. As a temporary workaround, you could comment out
line in Makefile telling WITH_FAM= YES (or something similar is
there) and be
just fine, loosing ENHANCED IDLE support, however. You could even
update this

way to 0.53.3, by the way. I did not try to put this update into PR yet
exactly due this fam/gamin issue.
Regards,
Milan

Hi, Milan,

The strange thing is that I built a new courier on Nov. 2. I
installed it fine without having fam but it built gamin but then I
had problems with courier until I built and installed fam and after
that all was well. I didn't change anything else. From what you
are saying and from the experience that I had, I would assume that
what you suggest is basically what I did. That just might be worth
a try but it seems a bit weird.

Commenting out WITH_FAM= YES nor setting it to no didn't get the
desired results. It still tried to build fam and died at the same
place. Tomorrow, if I have time, I'll uninstall fam and try to
rebuild the way I did on my last installation.

ed

Hi Spil,

Thanks for the suggestions. I had to do that a few months back and
never did find what was wrong. Probably something like what you are
contemplating, the next release fixed it. The previous time I was
able to use eaccelerator though. If I do go that route, I, too, will
want eaccelerator because I have had a lot of problems with Zend and I
like eaccelerator more. If it works for me, I'll let you know.

Have a great weekend,

Steps to reproduce:
cd /usr/ports/lang/php5
make config
DEBUG On
portupgrade -rf php5

So also eaccelerator was rebuilt
Amended the zend_extension to point to the 20060613-debug extensions dir.

Think I'll wait for php 5.2.1 eaccelerator 0.96 :D

Kind regards,
