looking for a fail over system

2009-01-21 Thread Buck Jones
MY web server just died and It's taking some time to get back up . I
want to find a fail over device so when one computer dies another
automatically takes over. of course letting me know this happened would
be a good thing too.

Persistent kernel module?

2005-01-25 Thread Tim Buck
Is there a way to make a kernel module persistent between kernel
builds? I'm using a HighPoint SATA RAID controller on FreeBSD 5.3.
HighPoint provides a driver for this controller in the form of a
kernel module (hpt374.ko). Their instructions say to put the module
in /boot/kernel, and add 'hpt374_load=YES' to the file
/boot/defaults/loader.conf.
This works, but when I build a new kernel the /boot/kernel dir gets
renamed and recreated, and the hpt374.ko module doesn't get copied
to the new dir. I have to copy it manually each time I build the
kernel.
So is there a way to make the kernel build process know about third
party kernel modules and copy it over to the new /boot/kernel
automatically?

you neglected to add basic info, as... do you run your own mail server, or
do you go through your ISP? In any event, if they did not originate from
your computer/server, you are the victim of a joe-job, google for it.
There is nothing really you can do, except to notify the ISPs IP addresses
where the spam is originating from..

I also have a woman getting mail from a sick person with the address and
return the same as her address. the police, FBI, are no help..

so, give her a new email address, and cancel the old one, and notify the
ISP of the IP address where the sick person is coming from. .

Help needed configuring npassword.....

2003-02-12 Thread J Buck Holsinger
I am trying to configure npassword to work on a freebsd 4.4 machine and
am having problems with the shadow passwords options. I can get it to
compile and install, but it is changing the passwords in the /etc/passwd
file rather than the /etc/master.passwd file.

I have not been able to compile with any of the p_shadow files that are
included with the distibution. Does someone have a working copy of
npasswd w/ shadow passwords and would they be willing to help me out.

Thanks

BUCK
