Re: Intel 845 graphics

Currently XFree 4.2.x doesn't have a support native
for this chipset.

   But we have two workaround:
1.- Select vesa driver and add VideoRam 32767
parameter.
2.- Install XFree from CVSUP version 4.2.99.2
This version had full support for this chipset but
this will not make an entry in /var/de/pkg to be able
to show that this package is installed with pkg_info
command.
We have to wait for version 4.3.x
In the mean time, I'm trying to make the ports file
for the cvs version.

Re: Re: Install FreeBSD on a Windows XP box

2002-10-24 Thread Diego Castro
I had the same problem.
My new machine arrived with Windows 2000 Professional.

I had installed Partition Magic and change size of
partition, move data in the new partition sized and
the free space left will be available for FreeBSD.
It's good and the cost is about $ 70 usd.

Be aware that there is a hidden partition with a fresh
copy of the operating system just in case that you
want to restore everything (windows).

Partition Manager from Ranish.com is only for creation
of partition, nothing to do with resize partition and
move data in that partitions.

I don't recall just what it can do, but take a look

It's a partition manager I ran across some time ago
 and seemed to be free.

Problem with Ranish Partition Manager is that
documentation is lacking, IMO. You do *not* want
to be fiddling with partitions if you are not
completely sure of what you are doing. I owe a
full reinstall of W2K to my inability to properly
understand Ranish. (Oh well, it wiped out a bunch
 of accumulated cruft, I guess.:)

Re: [FreeBSD-4.5] Netscape upgrade blunder....

2002-10-09 Thread Diego Castro

I had the same errors.
The solution was to upgrade to FreeBSD 4.6.2
Netscape 7.0 uses linux_base7 (finally fixed)

I had not changed a thing and have reinstalled

I imagine I'll have to use truss with firing up
 Netscape, then
the mail program, then try and send a message..
