Converting 'FLV' to 'MPG' format

2006-06-28 Thread Gerard E. Seibert
Google, as well as other web sites, seem to be using the 'FLV' format to
encode videos. I have found a decoder that can translate from 'FLV' to
'MPG' that works under win32; however, I have not been successful in
locating a similar product in the ports system. Perhaps someone knows of
such a product.

Ciao!

Error Message with Procmail

2006-06-24 Thread Gerard E. Seibert
I just installed 'procmail' onto my FSBD 6.1 stable system. The following
error message keeps appearing on screen at what appears random intervals.
This one appeared as I booted up the system.

Jun 24 11:41:14 seibercom procmail[749]: default rcfile is not an absolute
path for uid 1002

I am not sure what it means or how to correct it. Everything appears to be
working correctly.

Error Message Upon Reboot

2006-06-02 Thread Gerard E. Seibert
The following error message suddenly appeared after I booted up my system.
The PC is connected to a small LAN. I Googled but was not able to find out
what the message is suppose to mean.

//Error Message Below//

~ $ Jun 2 15:01:56 seibercom kernel: arp: 00:07:e9:ea:f5:52 is using my
IP address 192.168.0.2!

//End Error Message//

Since I have not seen this message before, I was wondering it is something
I should be worried about.

Sound Problem in KDE

2006-06-02 Thread Gerard E. Seibert
Upon completion of a fresh installation of KDE on FreeBSD 6.1, I have been
unable to get the sound to work correctly in KDE. Upon starting up of KDE,
this error message is displayed:

Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device /dev/dsp can't be opened (Device busy)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

I have tried rebooting the system, but the problem remains. since KDE did
work with FSBD 5.4 on this PC, I am not sure what the problem might me.

Error Message Upon Boot-up

2006-05-28 Thread Gerard E. Seibert

Using: FreeBSD 6.1

I have suddenly started seeing an error message upon boot-up. This is a
snippet of the display when the error message is displayed.

This just started happening and I cannot figure out why. My entire rc.conf
file follows.

Since it just started, I am assuming that something got corrupted, but I
am only guessing. Perhaps someone can assist me.

Portmanager: Error Message Upon Startup

2006-05-20 Thread Gerard E. Seibert

Running FreeBSD 6.1

Upon starting portmanager, I receive the following error message.

~ # portmanager x11/kde3 -l

portmanager 0.4.1_5: Collecting installed port data

MGdbAdd error: attempt to place null data into record halted
Assertion failed: (0), function MGdbAdd, file MGdbAdd.c, line 78.
Abort trap: 6 (core dumped)

I have no idea what the message means or how to fix it. Previously,
portmanager had worked flawlessly.

Printing in KDE

2004-12-11 Thread Gerard E. Seibert
I have failed miserable in my attempts to print from within KDE.

I have three computers networked together via a LAN. Two are running WinXP Pro
and the other (this one) has FreeBSD 5.3 installed. I have installed the
entire 'cups' system as well as 'LPRng' and 'apsfilter'. I was able to get
'apsfilter' successfully configured and did in fact print a test page
successfully.

My problem is that I am totally unable to print from within KDE, using any of
the available systems listed in the KPRINT menu. If I attempt to configure
the 'cups' server, I receive this message:

Unable to configure print server. Error message received from manager.

Symbol Configure Server not found in cupsdconf library..

Using 'LPRng', I add a printer profile and then attempt to print a test page.
This is the error that I receive:

A print error occurred. Error message received from system:

/usr/local/bin/lpr -P 'tmpprinter_SqOWXEWm' '-#1'
'/usr/local/share/apps/kdeprint/testprint.ps' : execution failed with
message: lpr: error - unable to print file: client-error-not-found

I have no idea where to go from here. I really need this computer to have the
ability to print directly to the printer. I welcome any suggestions,

Thanks!
