Getty in jail causes 60+ core dumps/sec

2003-12-08 Thread Jason End
I have a jail installed on a virtual disk, with it's
own IP on 4.9 stable. With the jail running it causes
60 or so signal 11 core dumps per second. However,
this doesn't seem to happen all the time; it comes and
goes.
Here's the exact message:
Dec 8 05:00:00 charlie /kernel: pid 51738 (getty),
uid 0: exited on signal 11 (core dumped)

I updating my system (and the jail) to the latest
stable, but the problem remains.
Could this be a memory (hardware) problem? Or is it
something else entirely.

thanks,

Jay

Re: Getty in jail causes 60+ core dumps/sec

2003-12-08 Thread Jason End
I just noticed that this is caused by some scripts
from the-labs.com that I was using. The error doesn't
occur when I start a jail with the regular jail
command, so I'll just use that.

write failed, disk is full

2003-03-30 Thread Jason End
Installing 4.7 through ftp, I get a series of errors
that say things like:
/ write failed. disk is full
failed to create /usr/src disk is full

The disk is new, and certainly isn't full, so I'm
thinking it could be a problem of where I've place the
partitions on the disk.
The disk is a new 120Gb WD1200JB and the relevant
partitions are as such (in this order):
10gb ntfs
3gb freebsd (/)
800mb freebsd (swap)
55gb freebsd (/usr)

Are my freebsd too far into the disk?
thanks,

J

Horde breaks apache config

2002-12-28 Thread Jason End

Having installed Horde, Imp and Turba, --clean
install, no config files edited yet-- apachectl
configtest gives:
Processing config directory: /usr/local/etc/horde
 Processing config file:
/usr/local/etc/horde/httpd.conf.horde
 Processing config file:
/usr/local/etc/horde/httpd.conf.imp
 Processing config file:
/usr/local/etc/horde/httpd.conf.turba
Syntax OK
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I think the problem might be in the httpd.conf.horde,
because if you pkg_delete horde and rerun apachectl
confitest, it process the imp and turba files without
the segfault.
Any ideas?

thanks,

jay

Monitoring program: email and sms warnings

2002-10-21 Thread Jason End
Any good program or set of scripts that can monitor
whether a site is up, and whether someone has changed
something in a file or directory, which upon detecting
any changes can send out an email and/or sms?

thanks,
