VPN pass through?
I have a W2K VPN server (RRAS using PPTP) setup behind my FreeBSD firewall. I also have a web server, mail server, and several others. I've setup up my ipfw to allow packets for port 1723 on both tcp and udp from any to any, and setup up NATD to redirect_port 1723 to the internal address of my VPN box. I am unable to pass the packets through, and when I put the redirect statement in my natd.conf file, none of the redirection works. I've tried redirecting both the port and the protocol to no avail. Can someone take a moment to explain where I'm going wrong? RE: NATD IPFW
The entry I added to my ruleset was: # Allow outbound pings ipfw add pass icmp from any to any in recv $external icmptypes 0 ipfw add pass icmp from any to any out xmit $external icmptypes 8 # Allow outbound traceroutes ipfw add pass icmp from any to any in recv $internal icmptypes 3 ipfw add pass icmp from any to any in recv $internal icmptypes 11 I don't use fetch, so I'm not sure which port it uses, nor am I familiar with which protocol it needs to use. Sorry. These two are self-explanatory. Hope this helps. A Faithful Servant, Mark-Nathaniel Weisman President / CEO Infinite Visions Educational Systems Inc. I'm having an issue with security while trying to get natd to work with ipfw. I got my ipfw rules working great, so I added the natd line in: ipfw add divert 8668 all from any to any via $EXTERNAL_INTERFACE But I can't do anything (ping, fetch, etc) until I add: ipfw add pass all from any to any Now, I may be wrong, but doesn't this pretty much open the box up? I tried changing the first any to my internal network, but that didn't work, and I know I've got to be missing something. If anyone would like to help me off-list, I could send you a copy of my rule set if you'd like. Another GUI for browsing Windoze?
I've tried to install LinNeighborhood a dozen times now with different versions, and it just won't install. However, I need to be able to browse windoze boxes like I could in LinNeighborhood. Anyone have a port of that, or know where to get something like it. It keeps giving me an error about my gtk-config file, saying it can't find an exit. I've got gtk-1.2.10_8 installed, and the config file is where it should be. All looks OK. Don't understand, but I need to see my network, any help? RE: Alternate boot
Do you have another machine that you could format the drive with? The only other thing I can think of off the top of my head is to use the FTP option, however, I'm not sure how you could establish an FTP connection without any of the media? Good Luck. Checking Loaded Applications
Hey all, Is there a command that I'm overlooking that would provide a list of all installed applications on my 4.7 box? I know I can get a smaller list from each port, and I can locate all the different apps, but I want to document all the version numbers and such and don't know where to look. Any Help? RE: windows 2000 FreeBSD?
I just finished another XP with 4.7 install, and my two cents for what their worth. When I did this last install, I simply installed 4.7 on the first have of a 10GB drive, then loaded XP on the second part. Once completed, I had to use the rewrite on the mbr using /stand/sysinstall. Under this operation, I have a copy of disk0 (I think) that contains the load point for each partition. Each partition then contains a copy, XP has one, BSD has one. Using the fdisk option under /stand/sysinstall I was able to rewrite the master boot record. Works like a champ, I'm even mounting the XP secondary drive to pull files off of it from time to time! I love this OS! His Faithful Servant, Mark To Unsubscribe: send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe freebsd-questions in the body of the message
Wireless USB Mouse.
Can anyone point me to a good how-to regarding the setup of a wireless USB mouse that will be recognized in XFree86? I've got a Wireless MS Explorer mouse, and I've recomplied the kernel to ensure that the USB recognition stuff was in there, I rebuilt the driver in /dev, and the silly thing still won't recognize. Any ideas? His Faithful Servant, Mark To Unsubscribe: send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe freebsd-questions in the body of the message
RE: Wireless USB Mouse.
Nope, doesn't work at all. I've got a dual boot system with Windows, and it works fine if I boot windows, however can't seem to get the rascal to work at all in FreeBSDv4.5. Based on dmesg however, the port that the mouse is on is not being addressed in the Xconfigurator. As the USB ports are addressed and configured upon boot it identifys the mouse perfectly. I put the associated lines in my rc.conf file for boot, right? I've added lines into there. Do I still need to actually start the service? Question about Apache with ssl.
I've replaced the original httpd executable with a new improved apachectl, and of course need the startssl to fire up my ssl installed Web Server. When the web server fires up, you need to enter the pass phrase for the security. How can I automate this? Which file boots the web server? And where do I add the security phrase? Any help? RE: Does FreeBSD work on Walmart's $199 Microtel box?
Yes Rick, Wal-Mart uses a modified version of Lindows for their internal operations, but does not offer it for sale to their customers. It was supposed to go public with sales Q4 of 2002, however as of yet no go. A quick web search didn't bring up any answer to this. Does anyone here have the definitive word? The most recent machinine I saw was running what seemed a fairly stock Debian. So I'd expect you'd have little trouble up to console use; X may be compounded by the use of some highly integrated chipset. I recall seeing an article where Walmart was loading Lindows on their machines... is that still happening? USB Help?
I've ensured that my v4.5-STABLE kernel contained the appropriate lines of devices, I've run the (./makedev), I've loaded the statements in rc.conf (find below) and I've set my device and protocol in X86Setup. Yet, my USB mouse still does not respond. It's on a dual boot machine, and it works fine under windows. During the load (using dmesg) I can see where the hub and devices are loading, yet as soon as I go into X, I get nothing. My ums0 device is not available for selection under the XConfig either. Help?
