Where is pkg repository for 9.2-RELEASE (amd64)?

2013-10-02 Thread Winston
Summary:

Where is the (U.S.) pkg(ng) repository for amd64 9.2-RELEASE (i.e.,
what's the right URI for PACKAGESITE in pkg.conf)?

Things I tried that didn't work:

* pkg_add -r pkg  didn't create /usr/local/etc/pkg.conf

* pkg.conf.sample suggests http://pkg.freebsd.org/${ABI}/latest;,
  but the host name pkg.freebsd.org does not DNS resolve for me.

* URLs using pkgbeta.FreeBSD.org didn't work, and
  http://pkgbeta.FreeBSD.org/  itself says
  Currently this site only contains pkg bootstrap files!

Thanks!

bug in /usr/bin/calendar: Thu+1 doesn't match on 7th or December

2012-06-06 Thread Winston
Bug report for /usr/bin/calendar

SUMMARY: calendar does not match Thu+1 or Mon+1 in some months.

With one exception, it looks like calendar file dates such as Thu+1
and Mon+1 are failing to match in two cases: (1) the 7th of Jan-Nov,
and (2) December.

DETAILS/EXAMPLES:

The bug occurs whether or not the command line options below are used.
I first noticed it today (a Wednesday) because a Thu+1 event tomorrow was
not in calendar's output.

What would be awesome is Enemy Territory Quake Wars using the linux
compat! The issue is it requires emulation of a later kernel.

I also play Urban Terror. Join up on fsk405 Superman!

Booting problem

2006-06-27 Thread Winston

I tried to boot via a serial console, so I modified/added the
following config files:
---
/boot/loader.conf:
boot_multicons=YES
boot_serial=YES
console=comconsole
---
/boot.config
# wyt: added
-Dh
---
Changed /etc/ttys:
ttyd0   /usr/libexec/getty std.9600   dialup  off secure
to
ttyd0   /usr/libexec/getty std.9600   xterm  on secure

However, I got the following messages while booting:
/boot.config: #
FreeBSD/i386 boot
Default: 0:ad(0,a)boot
boot:

I think I prob. made a mistake by putting a line of comment #wyt:
added at the beginning of /boot.conf and the boot loader doesn't like
it.

But if I specify /boot/kernel/kernel after the line boot:
I got a bunch of reg dumps and finally:
BTX halted

The kernel was booting fine before I make the changes. I now have the
chicken and egg problem: I need to get rid of the line of comment in
boot.conf for it to boot, but I can't access it without booting into
it.

Any hint?

[no subject]

2004-09-10 Thread Sharon Winston
Hello,
I was hoping someone could help me.

I'm trying to use Nifty TelNet to change a password on
our Web site (the password allows visitors to enter
the members only section of the site.)

Last year, I used the program to change the password,
and it was no problem. This time, the commands look
different and I'm having trouble.

I'm getting all the way down to htpasswd .htpasswd,
then, I pick a code, and type in a new password. But,
when I go to our Web site, the password is the same
old one.

Help!

 Dear Winston,

 Unfortunately, I am not as big an expert as you think I am. I am just
 getting the basics, but that seemed to be enough for me to solve the
 initial problem I had with MVW. Now, I think, we would have to ask for
 help some more experienced members of this list. Sorry to disappoint
 you. :-)
