I will try this method of installing the system in /usr/diskless:
# cd /usr/src
# make installworld DESTDIR=/usr/diskless
# make installkernel DESTDIR=/usr/diskless
# make distribution DESTDIR=/usr/diskless

To build system for the diskless station, whether there are
differences between:

[in script]
#!/bin/sh
export DESTDIR=/usr/diskless
cd /usr/src; make buildworld

and

[in csh]
# setenv DESTDIR /usr/diskless
# cd /usr/src
# make buildworld
