kdm
hello, I am having some problems with kdm or kde. I have edited /etc/ttys so that kdm starts when the machine boots. When I log in nothing happens, the login screen is just reloaded. I get the same results when I log in using the default and failsafe profiles. I have edited the following files as per the freeBSD handbok; /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/Xsession. /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/Xsetup_0 /etc/ttys/ any help would be great. thanks Brett _ Get a Virgin Credit Card and win an adventure: http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;8661322;9498324;s?http://www.promo.com.au/virgincreditcard/firstbirthday/track.cfm?source=N92 ___ [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
gnome error message
hello, I have been looking over the Handbook and I cannot find an answer to my problem. Every time I start gnome as root or a normal user I get the following error message; Could not look up internet address for . this will prevent GNOME from operating correctly it may be possible to correct the problem by adding to the file /etc/hosts. The message suggests adding to /etc/hosts, I've looked at the file and several text books and am still not sure what to do. Thanks heaps, Brett _ Find love today with ninemsn personals. gnome problems
Hello to you all, I am new to freeBSD and this mailing list. I have run into some problems and am not sure where to post my question. I am running FreeBSD 5.2 i386 and am having some problems getting gnome to work. I have searched through the handbook and several other text books but am still stuck. When I am logged in as root X11 and gnome start fine when I type 'startx', when I am logged in as a normal user I type 'startx' and only X11 starts. I have followed the instructions in the handbook and modified /root/.xsession. any help or direction to other resources would be great.
