I still happen to think 4.11 is the most stable FreeBSD ever made. :) I took the advice, though, but in reverse: I installed misc/compat5x (after a bit of tweaking). And now I have a bonafide libm.so.3, in /usr/local/lib/compat/libm.so.3.
