usb card reader problem
Howdy! I'd like to know how card readers, using umass, behave on future 6.3 or 7.0. On my amd64 6.2, after loading umass module, only first time I connect usb cable to it I see reading of "da" devices. No daxs1 in /dev direc- tory. Next remove/connect of usb reader gives nothing at all. Any news? Of course, it is always possible I missed some necessary step. I've no idea whether a similar 'quick-fix' to that given for FreeBSD 4.X to /sys/dev/ata/ata-dma.c would work with the 5.5-S and 6.1-R code I have here, noting that the alignment is now specified in bytes rather than the earlier bytes-1, so '4' is presumably the value needed for dword alignment. Hmm, ok, trying to dig a little deeper .. rev 1.118 notes say: Add support for a the National Geode SC1100. Thanks to Soekris engineering for sponsoring a Soekris 4801 to make this support. but I couldn't find anywhere in 1.118 or in later versions up to 1.147 (RELENG_7, HEAD) that does anything other than 'ch->dma->alignment = 2;' (Not that me not finding it means much :) I also noticed at 1.137.2.2: Add support for using DMA on dump, greatly speeds up the dump process. Copying Soren in case he may have a bead on this, but it hardly seems any impediment to preparation or building for it when the box arrives. FreeBSD-BETA2 Signal 11 During Install
Hi, I tested out FreeBSD 7.0-BETA2 using VMware Player, and using the boot-only disc FreeBSD installed fine, until when I was asked for Linux binary compatibility. Upon hitting enter for Yes, I got a signal 11. The only information given was on console ttyv1 with a one-line debug error saying it caught signal 11. This is all the information I could get out of it. However, after it rebooted on its own (which took about 3 minutes, I suspect it was timing out being connected to a mirror) it booted normally on the virtual hard disk, leaving me to finish the installation manually where it left off. I was wondering if anyone noticed a similar error when trying to grab files from the mirror upon requesting Linux compatibility during the install. FreeBSD-BETA2 Signal 11 During Install
Sorry for the double-post, but it appears it's not related to a network install or installing Linux compatibility files. It occurs when log into a mirror and tries to read the package data from INDEX: it core dumps with signal 11. Running gdb with a full backtrace reveals this: #12 0x28236e98 in __tsd_lock () from /lib/libc.so.7 No symbol table info available. Should I post any more information? I would like to help in the development and testing of FreeBSD
Hi, my name is Hugo Santos Dias, living in Brazil in Vitoria da Conquista, Bahia, I have great interest in helping in the development and testing of versions of FreeBSD, I use FreeBSD on my desktop and my servers. I am a student of computer science at the UESB - Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia (State University of Southwest Bahia), and one of my projects is a path for ipfw, so that it can read data in layer-7 like iptables-layer7. I understand c/c++, shellscripts, perl, a bit of java (needed for the work of Discipline graphics computer - http://www.compenter.com.br/hugo/prova3/ - the link robo.htm). Working in a isp, wiress and via cable, and have deep knowledge of networks and tcp / ip. Please as do I to help in the development and testing of FreeBSD?
