MFC of r206686 r179870

2010-05-09 Thread jhell
The following two commits to stable/7 may be responsible for dirtying
the console with messages pertaining to setting values in rc.conf.
Though these messages are harmless and daemons will continue to run as
normal; they should be looked into fixed.

reverting to revision 201272 of rc.subr relieves this problem.

r207801 | dougb | 2010-05-08 18:15:05 -0400 (Sat, 08 May 2010) | 4 lines

MFC r206686:

Make 'stop' work even if ${name}_enable is not set.

Changed paths:

   M /stable/7/etc/rc.subr

MFC r179870:

Move the check for enabled knobs further down in run_rc_command() so
that bogus commands cause usage information to be printed instead of
diagnostics about enabling the knob.

This is a prerequisite for merging r206686.

I appreciate the problem report, but pasting the commit logs from
commits that I actually did doesn't provide me any useful information.
What WOULD be useful are examples of dirtying the console, along with
some additional information about the settings that it is complaining
about.

Also, did you upgrade all of /etc, do you have an /etc/defaults/rc.conf
file, what are the contents of /etc/rc.conf and /etc/rc.conf.local?

In my testing the changes did not produce any unexpected results, but
that doesn't mean I didn't miss something.

DVD device unusable

2010-05-09 Thread Demelier David
Hi freebsd-stable@,

I wanted to play a DVD on my laptop (HP ProBook 4510s) and I just can't, it
   does

libdvdread: Get key for /VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.VOB at 0x0150
libdvdread: Error cracking CSS key for /VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.VOB (0x0150)
   libdvdread: Elapsed time 10

So I check the dmesg and the surprise was :
   acd0: FAILURE - SEND_KEY timed out
   acd0: FAILURE - SEND_KEY timed out
   acd0: FAILURE - SEND_KEY timed out
   (last message repeated many times)

I added atapicam to my kernel config to see if it will fix the problem and it
   doesn't.

   sudo camcontrol devlist
   hp DVDRAM GT20L DC05 at scbus1 target 0 lun 0 (pass0,cd0)

   In dmesg :
   acd0: DVDR hp DVDRAM GT20L/DC05 at ata3-master UDMA100 SATA 1.5Gb/s

If I remember well it was working on -RELEASE (it should because I installed
   from the -RELEASE device)

   King regards.

running rc.d scripts on the command line (which I did).

This happens during boot...

This is also on a system that does not have ipfilter, built
