php in free(): error: junk pointer, too high to make sense

2006-11-23 Thread Dominik Zalewski
Hi All,

I'm using FreeBSD 6.1 release on i386. I have a problem with pear and apache.
Here is what I'm getting:

Log1.9.9 stable
PEAR 1.4.11 stable
XML_RPC1.5.0 stable
php in free(): error: junk pointer, too high to make sense
Abort trap: 6 (core dumped)

apache 2.2.3 and php-4.4.4_1 is working fine but everytime I restart it throws
core dump.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance,

See a recent thread in freebsd-ports mailing list. It may be related to
a known problem with PHP which is exposed by certain ordering of
extensions in extensions.ini. Try reversing the order of extensions, put
session extension on the top, just before mysql or something else -
there doesn't seem to be a rule about it.

I deinstall php4-recode packge , restarted apache and the problem gone ! No
more core dumps from pear and apache :)

I found solution here: http://www.takizo.com/blog/category/php/
Looks like with php5 it cause problems too but I didnt test it.

as for as i know there is no fxotune program for freebsd so the chances
on echo are greater when using PSTN.
If you can wait a week I can give you my results on the sangoma cards
(mine gets delivered friday), they also have a freebsd driver and
 hardware echo cancelation.

Hi everybody,

I'm running FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE on i386. I wanted to upgrade my php to

I have the latest ports tree, portsdb and portaudit db. I updated it using :

pkgdb -Fa portaudit -Fda portupgrade -ai

probably I forgot about something :)

php 4 update - SOLVED

2006-10-16 Thread Dominik Zalewski

from portaudit.conf:

# this vulnerability has been fixed in your FreeBSD version
portaudit_fixed=edabe438-542f-11db-a5ae-00508d6a62df

and then:

portaudit -Fda portupgrade php4

Done :)

there are ways in postfix and probably most other MTAs to make a copy of
things as they are handled by the SMTP engine. check out the howtos on
postfix.org or google a little and you should have plenty to go on.

Eric

I know most of MTAs can do it but I dont want users to use local MTA for
outgoing emails, plus this solution is just for outgoing emails , what about
pop3 ?
I just want to capture all smtp/pop3 traffic in packets level.

DNS round robin is not about redundancy, the only thing you could have
that way is a kind of load balancing (not the most sophisticated way,
though). Whenever one of the servers fails, around half of the requests
still goes there and then times out/gets conn refused or whatever the
problem is. Prioritizing is not easily possible. Probably it helps if
you add one of the IPs more often to the set, but I never tried that and
did not read the docs on this topic, so before breaking your zone first
read the specs, if this works!

For serious redundancy with failover and/or load balancing with a good
leveling you should consider getting a load balancer (be it hardware or
software), better two so you don't have the single point of failure
  there :-)

A good software load balancer which supports weighting is pen. In ports.

From pen homepage:

This is pen, a load balancer for simple tcp based protocols such as http or
smtp.

As I know DNS uses both tcp and udp protocols.

For failover you can try OpenBSD Packet Filter with CARP protocol. PF can do
load-balacing using different algorithms also. CARP is ported to FreeBSD.

Apache 2.2 has it's own built-in LDAP authentication module using the
 new Authz/Authn system.

 See: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mod_authnz_ldap.html

 Cheers

I'm still using apache13 on some machines. Probably I missed that ldap module
is now integrated with apache22 ;)

Here are my ldap.conf and nss_ldap.conf
  #bind_policy hard

Change hard to soft and your problem would go away.

Still the same problem. I tried also to change bind_policy to soft.
Can you show me your nss_ldap.conf ?

Problem is after I change things in /dev/nsswitch.conf. If I live it like
this:

group: compat
hosts: files dns
networks: files
passwd: compat
shells: files

I start slapd using /etc/rc.d/slapd start , then I change /etc/nsswitch.conf
to:

group: files ldap
hosts: files dns
networks: files
passwd: files ldap
shells: files

Everything is fine and users can login via ssh using their ldap password. I
can boot server with first configuration and run some script that will copy
second nsswitch.conf , but I dont like this solution and I dont understand
why its not working.

Any help welcome :)

Portupgrade failed - /var/db/pkg/pkgdb.db: unexpected file type or format

2006-07-02 Thread Dominik Zalewski
I'm using FreeBSD 6.1-stable . Today I updated my ports tree using cvsup and
then I ran as usually portupgrade -a . It upgraded my portupgrade to version
portupgrade-2.1.3.2,2. After that portupgrade stopped working.

Here is an error message:

Any ideas?

 Dominik,

I've had the same today and thought it has been my mistake (doing a
 pkg_version in parallel).

Just delete /var/db/pkg/pkgdb.db and run `pkgdb -F' and all should
be fine. At least on my system I was able to rebuild pkgdb.db that
way and all is working again.

 Greetings,

 Volker

Thanks. I rebuild my pkgdb.db and it looks everything is fine.

Thank you,

Removing pkgdb.db and INDEX-6.db and then rebuilding them with
pkgdb and portsdb did the trick for me.

  Any ideas?
