So using pow() would just make the code less efficient, not gaining anything. Follow-up Comment #1, bug #16684 (project freeciv): Another thing I forgot, when you enable 1 x 1 islands doesn't work, it's a myth i haven't ever seen one. I invite you to try setting normal islands game (3,3,3,1), enable all map temperate, and 1 x 1 islands.
