[Freeciv-Dev] [patch #3456] Add language names list

2012-08-01 Thread Marko Lindqvist
Follow-up Comment #6, patch #3456 (project freeciv):

Current version of these patches suffer from a problem that at least
"Brazilian Portuguese (pt_BR)" does not fit to Windows Installer dialog (on
system where I quickly tested this)
Not a blocker, though.

Follow-up Comment #5:

Well, English sources seem not to use any translation of "Bokmål" (or
"Nynorsk" for that matter) so I guess it's the most official English name
there is.

Attached patch corrects Czech, and adds nb just in case - some future uses of
this list may need it - if not special Windows parameter value "auto"

Follow-up Comment #4, patch #3456 (project freeciv):

Not intentional. I just listed .po files from svn and forgot that nb.po gets
generated (=is not in svn) by a ugly hack. Do we want it listed? And as
language names are currently in English, what it should be called? ("Standard
Norwegian"? (my Swedish just barely passed equivalent of Highschool, but 'bok'
means 'book' and 'mål' language))

[Freeciv-Dev] [patch #3456] Add language names list

2012-07-31 Thread Jacob Nevins
Follow-up Comment #3, patch #3456 (project freeciv):

Sorry late comments but:
* Typo "Czesh" should be "Czech"
* Is omission of nb = "Norwegian Bokmål" deliberate? I'm guessing so given
the arrangements in patch #3463, which only include languages on this list in
the Windows installer; I think nb.po (= no.po) is a hack so that language
detection does the Right Thing on Linux, and is thus irrelevant to Windows?
But thought I should check.

Details:

While translation statistics generation part of bug #19087 is problematic,
language names part can be useful (I sort of hope to get something done for
Windows installer before 2.4.0-beta1). This patch adds bootstrap/langnames.txt
file to version control and tarball.

- What should (if any) suffix of the file be. Current .txt might be a bit too
generic.

- Currently language names are in English. We may want them in the language
itself in the future, but I don't have time to find out those names now.
