I think it's okay to post about programming for FreeDOS. I don't think
it's out of line for stecdose to tell us about a program that's runs
on FreeDOS.

The email lists page (http://www.freedos.org/lists/) describes the
email lists this way:

Freedos-user
Do you have a question about FreeDOS, or need help installing?
Freedos-user is the place for general FreeDOS discussion.

Freedos-devel
Are you interested in writing programs for FreeDOS? Freedos-devel is
for developers, developers, developers!

Freedos-kernel
Do you want to contribute to the FreeDOS kernel? Freedos-kernel is
aimed at FreeDOS kernel developers.

So it's okay to use Freedos-devel to talk about writing programs for
FreeDOS, or porting programs to FreeDOS. Freedos-user would also be a
good place to announce programs like this, since it's not asking for
help from other developers.

(But I'll admit that pong and fortune are pretty simple programs, not
likely to garner much interest these days.)

-uso.
freedos-user would IMHO a much better place to post about things like
this than freedos-devel...

While I don't necessarily share the view that this mailing list needs to
be exclusively about elitist FreeDOS development, I do think that it
should be a list at least about (DOS) development. Announcements of
random new micro-projects is not development. Unless the post would be "I
hit a problem in my fortune program which leads to crash and I don't get
what's going on", or the project would be helpful to developers (like
some neat library, or a new compiler or what not) but here it's not.
Simple announcements are, I think, better posted to the user list, and/or
to comp.os.msdos.apps, comp.os.msdos.misc & alt.os.free-dos.

When I subscribe a devel list, I expect low activity, but on the rare
occasions when there is activity at all I expect it to be actually
interesting.
