I guess this problem has been resolved in one of the more recent
versions of FreeDOS (beta8 is very old).

Try downloading the latest FreeDOS 1.0 from www.freedos.org and install
that version instead.

Ciao

Hi Elias,

I bought a new Dell n series with freedos. i want to install freedos on
it from the CD. All goes well until it asks me to chose 1) FreeDOS beta8
 installation...

Beta8 is more than 5 years old...!

I need help since Dell doesn't support FreeDOS

You should still file a complaint and ask Dell to give you
the CURRENT version. After all, you paid for FreeDOS, even
though it was only the cost of the CD-ROM because the soft-
ware itself is free.

We do not want to assume that Dell is trying to make
FreeDOS look bad by shipping ancient versions, so let
us assume that Dell will fix this when told about it.

[Freedos-user] FreeDOS icon

2007-06-15 Thread Mateusz Viste
Hi,

I saw that the FreeDOS website's icon has changed why??
I think the previous one was much nicer... by the way, the current one is just
an adaptation of the MSDOS icon from Windows. :(

I agree. It is a bad idea to use a MS style icon. Especially
when we can use a really nice FreeDOS fish icon instead! Does
anybody have a copy of the old icon? Otherwise we would have
to wait until Jim returns so he can reactivate the old icon
himself.

Nice. LAME's source code is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen.

LAME is a mp3 encoder. (I used GCC 4.1.2., and compressed it with UPX.

Why not GCC 4.2.0? ;-)

Because I haven't used NCURSE, the screen output won't be that nice.)

One could use the GNU termcap library + ANSI.SYS.
But I know another more smarter way previously used by Eli Zaretskii.
