Good, but how is this related to FreeDOS ?
Well, I don't see anyone in the Freedos community insisting that
closed source compilers be used and I certainly don't see anyone
getting banned for suggesting the use of open source compiler tools,
thank goodness.
Well, actually until some years ago, the reference compiler used to be
BorlandC, but the spec was changed in favour of OWC/C++ (
https://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/freedos/index.php?title=FreeDOS_Spec
).
There's actually a good practical reason behind it, which is that OWC
is under active development, whereas BorlandC is not.
That does not mean that every FreeDOS tool can currently be compiled
with OWC, but at least FreeDOS kernel does.
