[Freedos-user] RHIDE help file

2022-02-19 Thread Tom via Freedos-user
I've installed RHIDE and all the DJGPP stuff and it seems to be working
ok but when I try the Help from the menu or F1 I get an error box:
'Attention: can't open the help file 'rhide'.'

Is this a separate package or missing from the package?

[Freedos-user] Off topic - hardware survival.

2020-03-25 Thread Tom via Freedos-user
Hope you dont mind this  but I was just wondering about hardware
survival rates. I have a 486 from 92 that still works but most of my
later machines have died before being 5y old. Id did have a 20 year old
286 that had to go for space reasons even though it was still working. I
was wondering how many old machines are still running out there and this
seems a good place to find out!

Re: [Freedos-user] why isn't anyone answering my question?

Many mailing systems now ignore mails you send to a mailing list so you
never see them without diving into the archives

Yes, that is the correct list, but it didn't come through. When you
send something to the mailing list, you should get it in your own
inbox when it is forwarded from the list. If you did get that, then
maybe something happened on the mail server at just the wrong time.

By the way, I emailed my question to

Isn't that the address where I can send questions to?

Many thanks.

Looks like your installation is broken, or online FreeDOS repositories
are flawed. Have you tried using Svarog386 instead?

Mateusz

I used fdinst to remove the packages and then reran fdnpkg update and
got them installed OK
