You can try to use more powerful FvwmButtons and FvwmIconMan instead of FvwmTaskBar. snip This solution is not so simple as FvwmTaskBar, but this is very powerful. I took your suggestion and came up with this: http://uhacc.org/~elfstones/mike_buttonbar.png Want to share the image you use in the Pixmap option of the colorset used by FvwmIconMan? I hope this is an alpha-blended image, otherwise we can't use it in fvwm-themes (the RedmondXP panel there uses alpha-blended images only and adapts to any color scheme, not just blue). You may add NeverFocus to the panel, so we could see how focused and possibly selected items look too on the new screenshot. This is an actual Windows XP TaskBar: http://uhacc.org/~elfstones/winxp_taskbar.png Close, but no cigar. I have tow problems that I have not solved: 1) I fave not figured out how to control the maximum size of FvwmIconMan button. One button should not fill to max size. There is no such option currently. Someone (you?) may try to implement it, 2) XClock has a font flag, -fn, but does not seem to work! I have tried all types of fonts, but always displays this one large font (see top link). I would not swallow xclock, the modern anti-aliasing versions have unsolvable background color problems too, like on the screenshot, not just font problems. You may use either of the 2 solutions used in fvwm-themes. FvwmScript's sample FvwmApplet-DigitalClock that only draws digital clock, or separate module FvwmThemesPanelManager that manages digital clock among other things. But it is a whole lot closer to Windows XP's Task bar than the one I came up with using FvwmTaskBar: http://uhacc.org/~elfstones/mike-taskbar.png Regards, Mikhael. -- Visit the official FVWM web page at URL: http://www.fvwm.org/. I have tried all types of fonts, but always displays this one large font (see top link). This is a known bug. Please see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=233707 Actually it is user error (As in me being stupid). I did not read the entire man page for XClock. For the -fn flag to work, the -norender flag must be set. That problem solved. :\ Mike Illinois State University Webmail https://webmail2.ilstu.edu -- Visit the official FVWM web page at URL: http://www.fvwm.org/. FVWM: FvwmButtons help
Hello, I'm writing you because I don't have any hope to create what I want. All weekend I tried to create my own bar. I tried everything: edit other fvwm2rcs, google etc. I'm sitting now, and I don't know what I am doing wrong. I need you help, I'm trying to write something like this: - | button | | xclock| | (analog). | | button | | 4buttons in one row | | button | | other | |swallows | | _ | I tried to combine configs, read the documentations etc. I just don't get those geometry and size options;\ Can someone write an example how could this be done??? ;\\ -- Visit the official FVWM web page at URL: http://www.fvwm.org/. Re: FVWM: mini icons and NoResource
Style mutt Icon norm/mutt_button.xpm MiniIcon mini/mutt-mini.xpm How about placing a comma in between your Icon and your MiniIcon declarations ? You can check the resource and class etc. of a window with FvwmIdent. If 'mutt' isn't anywhere in there, you could explicitly set the title of the xterm to 'mutt' with the -T option. But, if you start your mutt with 'xterm -e mutt', it should set the title automatically. cheers, Remko -- Visit the official FVWM web page at URL: http://www.fvwm.org/. Could you point me to the FAQ for this? :) The FAQ? This is simply in the manual: Style mutt MiniIcon mutt.mini.png (the same for moneydance) cheers, Remko Thanks, That isn't working for me. I believe this is correct but for some reason it won't show the mini's on some apps. Other apps that run in xterms show the proper icons but mutt and moneydance, among a couple of others, don't. Here is what's in my .fvwm2rc-wm-icons: Style mutt Icon norm/mutt_button.xpm MiniIcon mini/mutt-mini.xpm Open FvwmConsole (bind it to a menu or a keypress), then paste into it: Style mutt MiniIcon mini/mutt-mini.xpm If the mini icon of mutt is not changed, then either the window has a different class string, or this mini icon can't be loaded. If the mini icon of mutt is changed, then either you have an incorrect order of Style lines (some XTerm overwrittes your mutt), or this window was not always named mutt, at least on the capture time. FVWM: RE: configuration questions
Quoting Mikhael Goikhman [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Want to share the image you use in the Pixmap option of the colorset used by FvwmIconMan? Images and config file can be download at: http://uhacc.org/~elfstones/fvwmxp_fvwm26_0_5.tar.gz I hope this is an alpha-blended image, otherwise we can't use it in fvwm-themes (the RedmondXP panel there uses alpha-blended images only and adapts to any color scheme, not just blue). Most (all?) of my images have an apha-layer, but I'm not sure that is what you are asking. So, probably not. I have looked over the RedmondXP panel a little. Not a whole lot like that one. Most of what I have done is actually from XP. The RedmondXP apears to be done by hand. For legal reason, you probably would not want to use mine. You may add NeverFocus to the panel, so we could see how focused and possibly selected items look too on the new screenshot. I have a couple of full screen shots I did tonight. This one showing how an application looks selected on the FvwmIconMan: http://uhacc.org/~elfstones/fss1.png This show the FvwmMenu system: http://uhacc.org/~elfstones/fss2.png I would not swallow xclock, the modern anti-aliasing versions have unsolvable background color problems too, like on the screenshot, not just font problems.
