Re: Clamshell Won't boot off CD
I replaced the optical drive today... with a slot loading combo drive from a G5 iMac! I'm installing 10.3 as I type. Thanks again! -Jonas -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. If the 9000 Pro has a fan you might need to replace the fan with a smaller fan. It will give you better video than the 7500. The 9000 Pro in my MDD does not have a fan, but does run very hot. I would take heat into consideration if installing one into a Cube. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. How many of the pairs does RJ 45 use? Anyway, the installation looks neat. The other main line I use works with all four pairs like its supposed to. Mark Murphy It worked because it is probably just using pairs 1&2, and 3&6. It sounds like bad or cheap plugs. We had a problem like that at a school in central Texas. It sometimes took 4 or 5 times to terminate a cable correctly because the plugs were faulty. The outer sheath of the cable should be about 1/2 inch back from the end of the wires. The outer sheath has to go up into the plug and be crimped inside it for stress relief. The cable's, not yours. No - the warning is just for the 12v power connection to the card. However, the fan is easy to replace or lubricate if any problems arise and usually gives an early warning by becoming noisy.
