Geforce 7800 locks up

Works fine to begin with but eventually the system "locks up".

Had to power off and on the reboot - got a lot of skewed random

I leave it sit for quite some time - boot it back up and everything

I put my old (stock) card back in and it runs and runs.

Is it possible that these systems don't have adequate ventilation
for this hotter card? I did have the aux power connection connected.

I don't want to disable one of my CPUs to use this card, kind of

Any suggestions?

Pay attention to the taping of pins 3 & 11.

I think you just discovered why it was available on the second-hand
marketbut make sure your video drivers are up-to-date. ISTR some issues
with the GeForce line.

I think you mean Geforce 7800 graphic card.
Was it for Mac or PC? Was it for G5 only, or G4 also?

I think there's some hack to do for adapting these cards into G4s.
Did you read some webpages about this on the Net?

It's possible. A lockup after a while, sounds like heating issues, or maybe
power.

Did you check the power requirements of the card against the G4 power
supply?
Recent video cards are quite power hungry.
