Just installed Illy CS2 on a this computer which is not my work computer with
CS installed.  No CS on this Mac and no problems.

No Key requested, just the serial number from the Adobe web site.---glen

For Adobe products, Serial Numbers may or may not lead to valid "Registration
Keys." I own several versions of CS Premium, including 2 and 2.3. For my
recent purchase of CS6, it took two days to receive the Registration Key after
submission of Serial Number from the box.

I will try to install CS2 and report back. I do have a legal CS [1]. --glen

Well, they are not checking too well. The download page lists serial numbers
for each of the apps.

leave this out there and use the drug dealer model. The first one is

According to Forbes and other sources:

Adobe has shut down the activation servers, but they're NOT giving
anything away for free. The packages provided for download now
require a registration key, instead of reaching for the server. Said
key is ONLY available to *existing* CS2 customers.

GREAT, heads up! Yo' da'man!

The general consensus around the net is that since Adobe was shutting
down the activation servers for CS2, this was SUPPOSED to be given
out to current CS2 customers so they could still use their software.

Once this was out in the wild, people guess that Adobe will just
leave this out there and use the drug dealer model. The first one is

Anyway, this is 7 year old software that won't run on newer Macs, so
they really have almost nothing to lose.

Planned to search ebay for Acrobat 8 and  CS2 or CS3 upgrades. Hard to believe
Adobe did this.

Yes, there are a couple of sites that already reported this great news:

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57562515-263/adobe-releases-creative-suite-2-for-free/
http://www.itworld.com/consumerization-it/334097/free-download-adobe-creative-suite-cs2-photoshop-or-other-adobe-software-n

Unbelievable at first, but true!

Here is the official statement from Adobe:
http://blogs.adobe.com/conversations/2013/01/update-on-cs2-and-acrobat-7-activation-servers.html

BTW, other languages are also available, like german:

I am happy to report that I have been successful. Bruce was right that it
is a software problem and Kris steered me to "Twonky Server" which was
exactly what I needed (says so in the manual but I was off on another
tangent. Sometimes it pays to read the manual carefully - if only they were
better written.)

Thanks again everyone.
