Apple jack message

2010-02-22 Thread Norm Rowe
I have a G4 gigabit mac desktop tower with Os 10.5.8 with a 1 gz sonnet
processor and 2 gigs of ram. Apple Jack reports { 41 9184483 UniNEnet::
restartReceiver} and it is in pinl letters and repeats over and over
until I push the enter key. Anyone know what this means and how to
correct what ever is causing it?

Norm

I found a buncha links in Google by people complaining about this.
It's something to do with the ethernet controller:

This thread at Apple's forums points to a possible fix:

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2111635tstart=0

Which involved replacing the 10.5.8 IONetworkFamily.kext with the one
from 10.5.7.

2010-02-22 Thread gifutiger
Greetings

It seams to me that I had this problem many years ago.
Check your Console log to see if you have a PCI-USB card not
responding correctly.
Could be one or more ports. I fixed my problem by removing the card.
That PCI-USB card worked just fine in a WINTEL machine.
