Possibly because you're booted on the target disk?
To do what you're attempting, you'd need to boot from the external HD
and then clone it onto the Mini's HD.
You can't target a boot drive for cloning, you'd ruin the system
you're using.
OK, now I really feel stupid. But, I'm going to blame it on working
all day. It's cloning as I write.
